Dan Pettit5 Stars Out Of 5An Absolutely Excellent Must-See MovieMay 7, 2015Dan PettitQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I can't tell you how impressed I was with this movie!
I am someone who (along with my family) analyzes and critiques movies. We watch them very closely and notice many subtleties. I also work with video and write scripts, so I am aware of things that others probably just take for granted (i.e. editing techniques, lighting, dialogue etc.). This movie is done exceptionally well. Visually it is beautiful. Some scenes are just stunning. The dialogue is not syrupy and comes across as believable. In years past, 'Christian' movies have always been 'cheesy' with poor acting and dialogue but "October Baby" does NOT fall into that category in ANY WAY!!
I have a movie collection probably well over 500 movies that include many current 'hits' and faith-based movies as well. I would have to say that "October Baby" is now one of my FAVORITE movies. It is extremely well done...moving at times...believable and has a tremendous impact and message.
Don't miss this wonderful movie. It is a MUST HAVE for any library!! I have to give it 5 stars (or TWO HUGE THUMBS UP for us 'older' folks)

Greart prolife movie from the victim's perspective: the baby's! The movie also shows the power of forgiveness to bring about healing for both the child and the mother who had tried to abort her.

KarenReno, NVAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Touching, Challenging, Unique PerspectiveNovember 10, 2012KarenReno, NVAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was really impressed with this movie when I saw it in the theater, so I purchased a copy to share with family and friends. This movie touches on several topics: abortion, adoption, rejection, forgiveness, and healing, to name a few. But the way it comes at the abortion issue is unique - it is revealed through the eyes of a girl who finds out she is the survivor of an abortion attempt. Since you are already connected to the girl from the beginning of the movie, you want to follow her journey and find out why her birth mother didn't want her. This movie shows compassion to all concerned, including the birth mother.
One "Rotten Tomatoes" review I read stated that the premise of the movie is so highly unlikely that it is ridiculous. Well, tell that to Gianna Jesson, the inspiration for the movie. I remember hearing her interviewed a few times on the radio several years ago. Gianna suffers from cerebral palsy due to her mother's attempted abortion of Gianna. In fact, Gianna sings one of the songs in the movie (soundtrack). Her testimony is heart-wrenching, but her peace and grace are evident, also.
This movie is a real tear-jerker, so have the Kleenex ready! The actress testimony at the end is very powerful. I thought the acting was very good, especially since this is a Christian-produced movie (we know how these always get a bad rap). This should be shared with everyone you know, especially young women. I will be buying a copy for my local library, too.
