Publisher's Description

A riveting story of secret sin and the healing power of forgiveness. Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna’s will is very clear: before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists: Connor Evans. Now will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor’s family ? Or is it possible that healing and hope might come in the shape of a seven-year-old boy? This title is also available as an unabridged Audio Pages® CD.

It seems like everyone is wanting Connor to pay for the mistake he had made. I guess i'm not getting where so many are coming from in these reviews. The point is that forgiveness will heal and keep peace. We are all called to forgive no matter what the circumstances. We are all sinners and have fallen into temptation in some way.

so what exactly should happen to someone who committed adultery?? Apparently they should pay for it for the rest of their lives...??If more people forgave like Michele did, I think more people would have restored marriages; as long as both were willing of course.

Even looking at someone lustfully is considered adultry in the eyes of Jesus.

sin saddens me and i hate sin, but we are still called to love and forgive.

Kingsbury didn't craft one believable character in this work of total fiction. Max speaks like a 12 year old. The girls are clueless. The wife is a doormat. The Hawaiian mistress is the epitome of immaturity. Conner is an absolute UNREPENTANT JERK!! From the first to last page Kingsbury supports adultery with cheap grace. There was zero take away value with no key idea, roller-coaster undeveloped plot lines, mismatched details, and NO credible ending. Conner and a butterfly!! Really?? Realize this is one of her earlier books - but how did a Christian publisher print this?

What a HUGE disappointment. The author spent so much time trying to make the husband (and mistress) sympathetic, she forgot to make him repentant! I spent the whole book waiting for him to see the devastating impact of his sin, but I waited in vain. Especially as the author seemed to be working just as hard to portray a reality in which there were none. She couldn't seem to make up her mind about which petty excuse would get the reader to accept this loser. Was it "I thought it was my wife" excuse? Or the "thrown together by circumstances but I wasn't really attracted to her" excuse? The "he really loved her (but apparently only for one night) excuse that both he and the wife tell the kids? or the one I found to be the most disturbing....the subtle but eerie unspoken implication tht God somehow WANTED and willed this to happen...? That one was just creepy!!! It would have been better to leave him unlikeable but RESTORED. the way she does in her other series, REDEMPTION

In the end, everyone paid the consequences for the husband's sin but him; and everyone repented and made peace with God but him. This is not the way marriages are restored. in real life, the consequences of infidelity are devastating...and not patched up in two weeks by a pouting adulterer and a guilty wife.

Up to Karen Kingsbury's standards. One of her best. Keeps you guessing about the outcome. Written with passion and emotion. I found myself crying at times and angry with Connor's wife at other times over her treatment of Connor's son. Well worth reading.
