Tell us a little about yourself. I am a wife, a mother of two sons, a grandmother of three boys and one girl. I love to garden, to watch the birds as they come to our feeder, and to look for the beauty and artistry of God's hand in nature. I love to sing, and to paint the minute details found in daily life as an offering to Him for whom nothing is too small to be noticed and enjoyed.
What was your motivation behind this project? I am saddened by the plight of women who are raped, especially those who conceive a child as a result. Today's lifestyle of 'disposable' children does not begin to give resolution for women who experience this kind of unwanted pregnancy. Abortion does not provide an end to the trauma of rape but only deepens the impact of that violence. I fully believe that it is God who allows conception as a way to undo the evil with the gift of a child.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I want to step beyond the pain and the internal struggle borne by entire families when violence strikes. I pray that readers will seek God's plan and purpose for their lives amid those trials. I pray that communication with God, and with loved ones, will bring His light to their darkness.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I wrote, I wept. I was working through something I could not easily identify at first - a lifelong feeling of not being good enough. I found great strength in God's love through Jesus Christ, and a place of acceptance, rest and comfort.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Among my own favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Oswald Chambers, Jan Karon, Max Lucado, and Ann Voskamp because they address hardships as avenues of grace.
