I know that this book has so much to offer but I have to be an English major to understand the words he uses. I'm having a hard time reading this book. I don't mind if I have to think and ponder ideas but if I have to think so hard to get the jist of what is being said that is a problem. I'm sure I would get it if I sat down with Mr. Sweet but in print it isn't happining. I have read two other books by Mr. Sweet and it's the same thing.

It seems as though he spent a few hours looking through a book of quotes and sprinkled them in at will. I know he meant to have them either introduce a new thought or reinforce one, but he did not succeed.
AnnetteTexasAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5September 24, 2010AnnetteTexasAge: 45-54Gender: femaleI thought this was a creative, gifted, wonderful teaching book on looking at evangelism in a totally new sensory experience act. The author uses the word Nudge, in encouraging us to see what God is doing around them by using all our senses. Thanks to B&B Media for the review copy.
Christy Lockstein5 Stars Out Of 5August 20, 2010Christy LocksteinNudge by Leonard Sweet is an extraordinarily intelligent and completely out-of-the-box thinking about evangelism. Sweet, a well known author and pastor, wants readers to awaken to the world of nudges, the ones we receive from God and others and the ones we can give to others to teach them about God. Evangelism has acquired a bad name occasionally because it often becomes one person out-talking the other and trying to force ideas down their throat. Nudge completely turns traditional evangelism on its head, by encouraging people to listen far more often than speak, to pay attention to what makes other people smile and hurt and use that knowledge to gently nudge with a love for God. Rather than the traditional view of evangelism that wants Christians to begin by telling their own testimony and talk about what God is doing in their life, Sweet wants them to find out how God is working in the nonbeliever's life and work from there. This is truly a book to be devoured, because the terrific wisdom must be ingested to be understood. While I read this book every night, I kept a pen and notebook at my elbow, because I was constantly writing down thoughts and quotes that rang so true, I wanted to tuck them permanently into my heart. Sweet's discussions about the five sense and how God speaks to us through them are extraordinary and will resonate with readers long after the book is finished. I'm passing this book on to my husband, and when he's through, I will probably read it again. It's really that good.
abbie3 Stars Out Of 5August 18, 2010abbieVery well suited for Pastors and lay people seeking a way to encourage their people to evangelism. I appreciated the authors attempt at using a word such as nudge to bring an abstract thought into a common realm for all people. Who doesnt know the word nudge to gently push another into a realization, an awakening, an acknowledgement of what has always been. Mr. Sweet seems determined to see the current church changed toward the heart of evangelism, out reach a love of Christ. Thank you B&B Communications for this review copy.
