Product Description

The New Revised Standard Version has established a reputation as the most reliable and accurate translation for study. It follows in the traditions of the KJV and RSV, but makes full use of advances in recent scholarship and and archaeological insights. Many of the Apocryphal or DeuterocanonicaBooks have been translated with reference to Greek texts whose authority has been enhanced by manuscripts discovereat Qumran, Masada and other Biblical sites.

The NRSV was translated by an international team of scholars from all the major denominations and can therefore be used confidently by those from different Christian traditions. Its universal appeal is enhanced by its use of inclusive language and its translation style, which conveys the meaning of the original texts faithfully but still gracefully and clearly. Contents: Tobit; Judith; Esther; The Wisdom of Solomon; Sirach; Baruch; Letter of Jeremiah; Prayer of Azariah and the Song of the Three Jews; Susanna; Bel and the Dragon; 1, 2, 3 & 4 Maccabees; 1, 2 Esdras; Prayer of Manasseh; Psalm 151;

    Easy to read. I like how it is organized. So far I have only read Esther, but it has been especially interesting following along in both the Apocrypha and my NIV bible.

    This book contains writings that are very much like the writings in the Bible. They are very God oriented and resound of God's goodness and grace. I found the teachings insightful and instructional along with being deep enough in material that a person could study for a long time. This collection of books is a good counter part to the Bible.

    This is a very concise compilation of the Deuterocanonical scriptures. The NRSV is very literal and easy to understand. The print is easy to see. This is a good book for anyone who desires a deeper look into life in the times of the Bible.

    This was a true joy. It serves as a good gift for those who already have numerous Bibles in their home, and want to study/read just the Apocrypha. The Price was Right.
