From its first page, this book has you holding your breath. It is very compelling. If you dont want to stay up all night reading, then this book isnt for you. It is so fast-paced and heart-pumping that your fingers will be glued to it until the end. Lynette Eason does this so well. It is not confusing or repetitive. She is such a skilled writer with her attention to detail.

The first book in this series, No One to Trust, was such a home run that I had high expectations for this book, and it definitely met them. It might not have been as good as No One to Trust, but it came close. I also love the characters in this book. They seem to go through real life struggles and they made the most of them.

Danis son was deaf which I thought was really cool. I am semi-involved in the deaf community so I was excited when I found out he was deaf. I must say, with my knowledge of the deaf community, I dont think Lynette Eason got everything right but you can tell she tried, and I appreciate that.

These types of book are not for everyone, I know that, but if you want a faced-paced, high-adrenaline book then you should give this series a try.

Debs Dozen: Dirty cops, deaf son, abusive spouse. Run, Dani, run! Nowhere to Turn

Dani Harding has had enoughshes taking her deaf son, Simon, and running away. Kurt has abused her for the last time. But the day she decides to run, Kurt is killed in a shooting. Dani thinks she and Simon are finally safebut are they? Seemingly Kurt has taken and hidden something that the bad guys really want. And now Dani is running again. Not only from them, but from her brother-in-law, Stuart, who is all but stalking her. He sees getting Dani as finally winning the competition against his dead brother.

Dani runs to Operation Refuge and hires Adam Buchanan to help her as she and Simon run for their lives. Adam is entranced by Dani and her story and endeavors to protect her and Simon. But somehow, the bad guys keep finding them .

Nowhere to Turn is one of Lynette Easons best. I kept thinking that I had the plot all figured out, but she kept throwing me curves. I stayed up until 2 a.m. to finish the bookand what a denouement! You will want to get this one as well as the first book in the Hidden Identity series, No One to Trust, so that youll be all caught up before her next book in the series, No Place to Hide releases this summer.

Youll like Dani and her son, Simon, who is a math genius. Youll also like Adam and Operation Refuge. Eason has the ability to create totally believable characters who grab at your heartstrings at the same time youre impressed with their courage.

Lynette Eason is a best-selling author with two previous series to her credit, Women of Justice and Deadly Reunions. Learn more about Lynette at www.lynetteeason.com

"From the first breathless scene, this tension-laced story will hold you in its iron grip as bestselling author Lynette Eason propels you along in a race to discover the truth."

Well, no. I yawned through the first quarter of Nowhere to Turn, then put it aside for a couple of months before forcing myself to finish it. Romantic suspense is my favourite genre, so I should have enjoyed this, but I didnt. I didnt relate at all to Dani, and I didnt understand why it took her twelve years to leave Kurt. Yes, I know her husband threatened to murder her son in front of her if she ever left, but there are ways to hide from the authorities. Criminals do it all the time, and womens refuges exist to help (we know there was a refugeher neighbour gave her the details).

And I know this is fiction, but I found Operation Refuge too unbelievable, with their seemingly never-ending resources and hot line to the state governor (because, you know, the governor has nothing better to do than wait for telephone calls from ex-US Marshals who need a favour). It was Hawaii Five-O without the sunshine and scenery.

However, I do have sympathy for Dani and other women in her situation. Around a third of the way through the book, Dani thinks:

Was she really that needy? Was she so brainwashed that she was actually afraid to be on her own?

I think the answer is yes, and thats why she couldnt leave. But as a reader, I needed to understand this from the beginning. It was at this point where I (finally) felt able to engage with Dani.

But this wasnt enough to rescue the novel for me. There were parts of the plot which were excellent, like the twist at the end about who was behind everything. Then there were parts which just seemed contrived, like the other plot twist at the end. And there were a couple of other plot devices which were simply too obvious. Overall, not a book I enjoyed.

I really enjoyed reading this book by Lynette Eason. She is a fabulous story teller and she wrote this story with emotion, strength and plenty of drama!

I thought she did a great job keeping the pace up while throwing in danger, romance, family struggles and real faith. Life is not always easy and this book portrays {maybe to the extreme} what some women face in domestic violence situations. I was reminded again the courage it must take to fight out and get help.

This book is perfect to get your heart rate up... have the popcorn ready!
