Endorsements

"All I know is that when I'm around Jennie, she makes me hungry to know God better. Her passion to be His above all others-at any cost-stirs something in my soul. Read Nothing to Prove and see if some of what she's learning at His feet doesn't spill over onto your yearning soul as well." - KAY WARREN, Bible teacher and author of Choose Joy

"Nothing to Prove takes us on a journey toward freedom from the need to measure up. With vulnerability and authenticity, Jennie Allen encourages us to wade deep into the streams of the Living Water and live secure in the knowledge that we have absolutely nothing to prove to God or to people." - MARK BATTERSON, lead pastor of National Community Church

"Way to go, Jennie! Loved this book! It's one thing to write well about the high concepts of faith or, alternatively, about the nitty gritty of real life. To write well about both grace and Netflix, both the sufficiency of Christ and also homework-that's very hard to do, and Jennie does it beautifully. I've watched her walk this path, and I've learned from her along the way. I'm so glad she's inviting us all into this important conversation." - SHAUNA NIEQUIST, author of Present Over Perfect

"Jennie Allen calls us to the best version of us-the version God intended. She calls us to rise above 'woe is me' and bring into focus 'God is great!' We love this glorious and universally resounding message. As a result of it, Jesus is being reflected and honored in new ways in and through this generation. Run, don't walk, to read Nothing to Prove." - LOUIE AND SHELLEY GIGLIO, cofounders of Passion Conferences and Passion City Church

"With honesty and raw passion, Jennie Allen invites us all to leave behind the proving and pretending that chokes the life out of us. There is more to life than this! Sharing the hard-won wisdom of her own journey, Jennie leads us to the foot of the Cross, where grace and mercy meet and we discover all over again that we have absolutely nothing to prove." - JO SAXTON, author, speaker, and board chair of 3DMovements

"In a time when rest is hard to come by, when our days are filled with the constant clamor to be more, do more, and have more, most people feel exhausted and overwhelmed. Jennie Allen shares from her heart, which is rooted in the Word of God, where true, deep soul rest is found. Using her own life as well as illustrations with which we can all relate, she faithfully proclaims that rest will only be found in Christ's finished work." - MATT CHANDLER, lead pastor of the Village Church, Dallas, and president of Acts 29

"Jennie is one of those rare people who holds a fiery and prophetic vision with such tenderness and grace. And because of that, hers is a voice I'm always reading and learning from. In this book she gets my nose in the Scriptures and my knees on the ground, and in my opinion a book that does that is as good as it gets." - JEFFERSON BETHKE, New York Times best-selling author of Jesus > Religion

"'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.’ Jesus shouted this to a crowd of confused, weak, spiritually thirsty people, tired from trying so hard to be enough and do enough-people like me and you and Jennie Allen. This honest, wonderful book is Jennie's humble shout that Jesus is telling the truth. It's her story of finding freedom and refreshment. And if we listen to her, it can be our story too." - JON BLOOM, cofounder of Desiring God and author of Not by Sight

I was looking forward to reading Jennie Allen's new book, Nothing to Prove. I had heard a bit about Jennie when she was interviewed at the Gospel Coalition's Women's conference. I did not know much about her except that she had written a number of books and was a very sought after speaker.

Being a bit of a Type-A personality that often needs to be "doing" - I was hopeful that Jennie's book would be an opportunity for me to be pointed back to Jesus and His all sufficient power.

She began her book with much transparency as she shared feeling inadequate and unable to deal with what was in front of her. I appreciate her relevant examples of being lost in several seasons of television shows on Netflix rather than being replenished by our Savior who has life giving, unending streams of water.

I honestly had a hard time as I initially began to read. Jennie's book was very conversational in style and much of what she shared was biblical counsel, but I felt like she could have pointed more directly toward scripture as she shared thoughts. She does not shy away from providing scripture in the book, but it could have been saturated in scripture and for me, would have been more powerful.

Jennie's book is filled with biblical truth, this is an excerpt:

"You can choose to live in these overflowing streams of His enoughness. Will you choose Him instead of living pulled along, missing your life, unable to take a deep breath?

We cannot save ourselves. But this story has a Hero.

Will you let Him save you?

In you don't catch anything else about why you never have to prove yourself, hear this: IT IS JESUS."

I would have liked powerful statements like these to be rooted in the infallible word of God. All in all, it was an encouraging book that told me to look to Jesus, the one that saves, redeems, and sanctifies. I am always grateful for the reminder that it's not about me and all about Christ.

Jennie's passion for Jesus has completely changed me. After reading other books she's written, I've been changed in such profound ways, so when I heard about Nothing to Prove coming out, I knew I had to read it. It does not disappoint. Jennie is so transparent as she speaks to the reader about feeling not enough. She speaks as a friend baring her soul. I found myself relating to her story on such a deep level. The applications she shares have helped to grow closer to Jesus. All in all, this book will change your life if you let. Approach reading this book with an open heart and allow Jesus to use this incredible message to set you free from all the trying to be good enough.

One of the most sacred invitations you can be called to is the story, the real story of where another has walked. Jennie Allen has simply & clearly laid out the steps she has journeyed. In her vulnerability and admitting where she does not have it all together, she shows how God, in His grace already knew that. He knows we all are limited, fallen and receives us in that place of not enoughness. Jennie models how naming, confessing and getting honest in the areas we are striving or numbing out, actually become the very places of intimacy and life. It is in those places of brutal honesty where Jesus can invade and show Himself to be sweeter and more satisfying than anything the world could offer.

One of the strengths of this book, is Jennie invites you to the very words of Scripture. The living, breathing, active words of God intersecting in our current space and time bring life. She walks through the book of John, showing us Jesus way of love, truth and grace. Her current application, encouragement and call to our generation is rooted in the story of God. You will be stirred to pick up your Bible, digging deeper into the words that lead to hope, salvation and lasting change.

This is a book that has many layers. You can devour it, move through it and then it beckons you to keep considering the Truth. It is experiential, offering time throughout to reflect and consider and will be a wonderful tool in the hands of women as they process together. There will be beautiful stories of the Lord using these very words to set women free; free to worship and live connected to the One who gives life abundantly. What a treasured voice Jennie is for our generation!

This book is just too good to keep to yourself!

Jennie's words inspire me, encourage me, change me, the way she bares her heart and soul and shares God's truth is humbling and moving. Sharing this message with other women in my community and around the world, just excites me!

These words, this message, we all need to hear it, we are not enough, we have nothing to prove. Jesus is our enough, our living water, the ultimate sacrifice, we know how the story ends, so we put our trust in Him. I can't wait to get this study going with a group of girls and see how God changes our hearts, souls and lives!
