We all experience setbacks and disappointments in life. Sometimes those setbacks become entire seasons of life. Businesses fail, relationships falter, discouragement and doubts set in and circumstances overwhelm us.

This book uses nine amazing "comeback stories" from the Bible to show how God provides everything needed to get through challenging setbacks.

Rather than showing people overcoming hardship through simple grit, the stories of Moses, David, Abigail, Esther, Joseph, Jonah, Elijah, Hezekiah and Peter tell of extraordinary changes of heart and how God works in all things for the good of those who love him. Readers will be given a new perspective on their struggles and will be encouraged to trust God in them.

Author John Meador uses his 35 years of Bible-teaching ministry, as well as his own experience of suffering permanent hearing loss, to write with faithfulness, compassion and authenticity. He says:

“These stories are real-life events that often brought more drama, heartbreak and tragedy, and had more at stake than most any other situations in history. They show us greater and more meaningful outcomes than we can possibly imagine.”

This is a great book for anyone looking for answers to life’s challenges. It is a useful ministry resource for pastors and church leaders searching for stories of faith to encourage others. Coming back from regrets, adversity, hopelessness, discouragement, anger, moral failure, disillusionment, physical crisis, grief and oppression are some of the themes covered.

John Meador has served as a lead pastor for 40 years, most recently at Cross City Church, in Euless, Texas. Part of John’s story is born out of adversity. As a small child, a severe illness resulted in an irreversible hearing loss that left him profoundly deaf. This has given him the opportunity to experience God’s grace in multiple ways. He has watched God turn disappointments into hope and purpose and deeply believes the promise, “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.”

"What a great book! Reading it reminded me of my own story of setback, and the similar stories of many who I pastor. This book will be a wonderful encouragement and blessing for those for whom confusion or pain is loud, and who need to hear that God’s not done with them."

“God’s Not Done With You is both a biblical and a personal look at how God rescues, restores, and repurposes our lives in amazing ways. In an era when hope and encouragement are lacking, these stories will inspire you to greater faith in the God who has great plans for your life!”

“What the world needs now is hope! In this book, John Meador shows us that it is never too late for a new beginning: that one setback doesn’t make a failure. We get to bat again. Read it… and reap!”

“John Meador knows something about struggles and facing great odds. Robbed of his hearing as a young boy as a result of illness, he does not even hear himself speak, yet he has mastered the art of preaching without hearing even his own voice. His own struggle makes it natural for him to speak up for those who are facing various challenges in their lives. The pages before you will encourage you, thrill you, challenge you, and confront you with your own need for a second chance in life. God is not through with you yet!”

“I’m already making my list of loved ones to send copies of this book to. The comeback stories from the Bible apply so aptly to crises they’re facing: depression, disobedience, disillusionment, difficult people to deal with, debilitating health challenges… Here is a direct, inspiring message from an authentic voice.”

“The Bible is not only a book to believe but also to be lived. This is the reason why so much of God’s word is written in the very human stories of real people. John Meador delivers the stories of men and women like you and me who step from the pages of Scripture to show us how to overcome and live in hope every day. We all enjoy comeback stories, and God’s Not Done With You is a great read for those who want to keep going and never quit as we face life’s challenges. If you want more grit and more grace in your life, this book is for you!”

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm a pastor, Bible teacher, husband and father of grown children. I love a great book, spending time with my family, pastoring the church I'm called to and making a difference in the lives of those around me. I've been impacted by personal setbacks and have seen God do amazing things when it seemed like there was no way to succeed.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Over the years, I've noticed a powerful theme in the lives of people God was using in great ways. I saw that each of them had "come back" from something that was humanly impossible to overcome. Whether it was a difficult circumstance, or a physical illness, or simply having adversity in life, God had brought them through. I set out to find those kinds of stories in the Bible, and they were literally everywhere. God is a God who engineers great comeback stories in life!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I want people to be encouraged! Often the latter chapters of a person's life are greater than the early chapters, especially when we're able to see God doing the unusual in us!

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I've been impressed by just how many people need encouragement in life. For so many, setbacks become permanent and there is no hope for the future, and yet there are so many reasons for hope! Seeing that, it was so comforting to know that God has gone before us to show us those same kinds of instances in Scripture, where He orchestrates great hope and joy in the lives of those who follow Him.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I read all the Tony Evans' books I can find and often listen to his messages online. I also love John Grisham books. It takes a lot to grab my attention, and like most, I want something to grip me when I'm reading.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Find someone who needs encouragement, and speak a word of hope to them. God's not done with them!
