This is the best book I have ever read regarding following Christ!! I do not like to do a lot of reading. I like to get to the point and move on and books don't usually hold my attention. Well, not so with this one. It has made me look at my commitment and make changes to be more of a follower. I use this book as devotion in the morning and at night! I have truly enjoyed reading it and I'm purchasing more to send to my friends. This book fit right in with my 1st of the year commitment...more of Christ and less of me. Our Pastor recommended it for reading and most of the congregation purchased it. Most of us have adopted the phrase DTR.....!! I had many "ouch" moments.

I have bought many many copies of this book and give them to my friends. It is a book every Christian should read no matter where they are in their walk.

I absolutely love this book. I quote it (and of course the Bible) in my Chi Alpha lifegroup and all things Christian conversation. It is. must read.

I did not even finish this book. Read about 3/4 of it and found it to be pointless. Either you are a follower or not.. If you only know about Jesus, and don't believe Him to be the Savior and Son of God, you are certainly not even a fan. You have insulted Him by calling Him a liar and turning your back on Him. Fans don't do that. After all, He claimed to be God, and backed it up with proof, so if you don't believe it, but only know Him as a good guy and great teacher and example, the He is a liar as far as you are concerned, and a fraud. I expected more

Brings an Unpopular Message to the Forefront

When I started reading the first few chapters, I thought, Yeah, Ive got this down. This is too basic for where Im at now. But as I read further into Not a Fan, I found myself saying, Ouch. Thats a little close to home. I might need to work on that. Id say Kyle Idleman has something challenging for everyone, regardless of whether you know about God but havent made a commitment yet or whether youve been a committed follower for years. We all have areas in which we can be *better* followers. This book speaks to those areas, challenging us out of our complacency to take actionto take risks for God.

The author points out the less popular exhortations of Christ. In a culture where we want to be comfortable, he reminds us that Jesus called us to deny ourselves, accept pain, and drop everything to follow Him. Jesus wants us to follow Him wherever, whenever, and whatever. We can place no reservations or restrictions on how and when we are willing to follow God. This is a very much needed message for us and I thank Kyle Idleman for bringing an unpopular message back to the forefront.
