There are few series that can rival The Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings in my affections. The Wingfeather Saga, however, is one of those series.

    ***Possible mild spoilers****

After recently finishing my second or third re-read of North! or Be Eaten, I was reminded of how much I adore this series as a whole. In this second book, we continue on with Janner, Tink, Leeli, Nia, Podo, Oscar, and Artham as they leave Glipwood behind and set out into the wider world in search of a safe refuge from Gnag and Nameless and his minions. Once again, the Igiby/Wingfeather family faces many foes and trials: Stranders (stealthy!), Snickbuzzards (sharp!), factories (FORKS!), and treachery (shocking!).

Nine times out of ten, when someone asks for book recommendations, I suggest this series (the one time is when their request specifically excludes the genre). In my opinion, this series is not as well-known as it should be, and it is my mission to share it with as many people as possible. The new editions with new covers and new illustrations are beautiful and well worth purchasing (even if, like me, you already have the original edition).

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

The adventure with the Igiby children continues in "North! or Be Eaten." This is a wonderful second installment in the Wingfeather Saga. The story teaches of love, loyalty, courage, perseverance, honesty, and faithfulness. This is a book that the whole family will be challenged by and will enjoy!

I've read these books twice, and I'm reading them aloud to my family for a third time right now.

Because reading for me, is like eating, I can't live without it.

I recommend this series so strongly that it drives me to use cannibalistic metaphors just to get my point across. To readers, and non-readers everywhere: Read these books, or be eaten.

I had never heard of these books until now. This genre is not my go to but I thought I would give it a try and see if I would enjoy North! Or Be Eaten. I love how imaginative the author is and the world that is created. The many quirky characters make this book what it is and I think a broad age group will enjoy it! The story line for me got a little muddled in the middle. I liked the illustrations though that added a lot. I am going to share this book with others that I know will love it!

    Three stars.
