No Way Up #1, in The Cimarron Legacy series by Mary Connealy
When an avalanche nearly claims the life of Chance Boden, a contest of wills is set in motion. The patriarch reveals that he has set up strict conditions in his will for his three cantankerous adult children to inherit Cimarron Ranch – and hired hand Heath Kincaid is to insure that they are fulfilled. Soon Justin, Sadie, and Cole, along with Heath, conclude that the avalanche was no accident, and in addition to running the ranch together, they will be fighting for their very lives.

Series: Cimarron Legacy
When Cimarron ranch patriarch Chance Boden is caught in an avalanche, the quick actions of hired hand Heath Kincaid save him. Badly injured, Chance demands that his will be read and its conditions be enforced immediately.
Without anyone else to serve as a witness, Heath is pressed into reading the will. If Justin, Sadie, and Cole Boden don't live and work at home for the entire year, the ranch will go to their low-down cousin Mike.
Then Heath discovers the avalanche was a murder attempt, and more danger might follow. Deeply involved with the family, Heath's desire to protect Sadie goes far beyond friendship. The danger keeps them close together, and their feelings grow until being apart is the last thing on their minds.
Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Really Enjoyed This BookMarch 17, 2017Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5No Way Up was a fun start to a new series. Actually, there is a free prequel novella titled The Boden Birthright that introduces the ranch and background story. While you can enjoy No Way Up without having read the prequel, I personally really liked the prequel and have always enjoyed getting to know more about a series.
In No Way Up, I loved the sparks and connection between Sadie and Heath that started to fly early on in the book. They were both strong and fun characters and it was a blast to read their thoughts regarding Sadie's brothers and see their responses to Cole and Justin needing to "protect" Sadie.
There was plenty of danger and wild west drama to keep fans of western fiction turning the pages to see what happened. The story wrapped up nicely while also making it clear that all was not necessarily resolved in regards to the safety of the Cimarron Ranch. It makes me anxious to read book two!

MoonpiePRYORAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5SUSPENSE, MYSTERY, ACTION, AND HUMOR!November 15, 2016MoonpiePRYORAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5To be honest I am not a fan of western novels but I thought would give this one a try and I am so glad I did! I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is also the first time I have read one of Ms. Connealys books.
Yes, it was an action packed western, but I was delighted to see it also a romance, a mystery, filled with danger and suspense, but my biggest surprise was the wonderful humor throughout the book!
Chance Bowden was a wealthy and powerful man. His children are grown and all have left the ranch except one. The other two have pursued careers they love away from the family empire. Chance is unexpectedly seriously injured in an avalanche. Before he is taken to Denver for treatment to save his live he calls his children, Cole, Justin, and Sadie, to his bedside and delivers a surprising ultimatum. They must all agree to live together on the ranch for a year or lose their inheritance ( a quite substantial one) to a cousin the detest. They grudgingly agree.
Hired hand, Health Kincaid stands by them. His wisdom and skills become invaluable to the siblings when serious trouble begins to emerge. Much to her brothers disapproval Sadie begins to see him as more than an employee. Little did they know when they agreed to their fathers demands how much danger they would face and what hidden family secrets they would uncover. A very exciting and entertaining book! I look forward to reading more by Ms. Connealy!
I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers
TellNJasmineMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Another must read from Mary Connealy!October 9, 2016TellNJasmineMontanaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I love Western movies but I suppose I've always been a little suspicious of Western books, guess I got used to Louis L'Amour's writing, however, I excitedly look forward to each of Mary Connealy's new titles. No Way Up was in no way a disappointment.
I quickly became caught up in the lives of Heath and the Bodens, immersed in the danger and romance. I definitely enjoyed the aforementioned romance and danger but I also loved Mary Connealy's trademark humor. Her books are just so much fun to read! The harsh life of the Old West is balanced out with romantic comedy making each story, and definitely this one, hard to put down.
As you can imagine, since I enjoyed No Way Up so much, I am anxiously, impatiently, waiting for the next book in The Cimarron Legacy series to come out.
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are entirely my own.)
GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Working Together Is ToughOctober 2, 2016GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This story takes the reader on quite an adventure and keeps you in suspense for the entire ride. Much of the ride is on horseback, starting with Chance Boden, owner of the Cimarron Ranch, riding with four of his men out to a desolate canyon to bring back several head of cattle. This could have been Chances last ride without the skill and swift action of Heath Kincaid after Chance is caught in a large rockslide in the mouth of the canyon. Heath gets him patched up enough to get him back to the house, but then he has to ride to town to get the doctor and to locate Chances son and daughter who live in town. The big shocker comes when Chance makes known the conditions of his will in the event he doesnt recover from his injuries. He requires all three of his children to live at the ranch or it will be given to a distant relative and they will get nothing. Once Heath convinces them to work things out in order to protect their vested interest in the ranch and everything else they hold dear, their battles between each other continue as their father is battling for his life in a Denver hospital. Heath and Sadie are drawn to each other which makes for some interesting times as Cole and Justin try to keep them apart. After Heath becomes suspicious that the rockslide was not an accident, the suspense and action intensify. If you enjoy good Old West drama, you will find it here with some romance added into the mix. I am ready for the next book in the series.
