Men are optional. That's the credo Emma Chandler's suffragette aunts preached and why she started a successful women's colony in Harper's Station, Texas. But when an unknown assailant tries repeatedly to drive them out, Emma admits they might need a man after all. A man who can fight--and she knows just the one.
Malachi Shaw finally earned the respect he craved by becoming an explosives expert for the railroad. Yet when Emma's plea arrives, he bolts to Harper's Station to repay the girl who once saved his life. Only she's not a girl any longer. She's a woman with a mind of her own and a smile that makes a man imagine a future he doesn't deserve.
As the danger intensifies, old feelings grow and deepen, but Emma and Mal will need more than love to survive.
hes75 Stars Out Of 5No Other Will DoNovember 12, 2017hes7Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I absolutely love Karen Witemeyers books, so it should be no surprise that I loved No Other Will Do. Set the all-female Harpers Station, this story is a lot of fun with great action, danger, and of course, romance. Emma Chandler is full of spunk and determination, and Malachi Shaw is just so wonderfulI love the relationship that develops between these two characters, especially considering their shared history. Im sure No Other Will Do will please other fans of historical romance, too, and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Bethany House, I received a copy of No Other Will Do and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I just loved this story. The characters were realistic and interesting. I always love her heroes and Mal was no exception. Any woman would love a man like him. I read one reviewer who did not like the women's colony angle but I had no problem with that. In my opinion men were not slammed in this book.
Also just a note about CBD.....the originally sent me the wrong book. When I called their attention to that fact, they quickly resent this title and insisted that I keep the other book as well. I am very happy with my purchase.
Jennifer's Book Nook5 Stars Out Of 5good historical novelAugust 28, 2017Jennifer's Book NookQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is an easy read. A novel that has a little bit of mystery but isn't scary. I really enjoyed it and enjoy books written by Karen Witemeyer. I bought it to add to our church library.
alwaysreadingAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5First Rate.April 1, 2017alwaysreadingAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Emma Chandler is on a mission. She has opened a town that is a sanctuary where women from all walks of life can come and live in peace. Unfortunately, not everyone in Harpers Station is on board with the idea. Threats toward the women begin to appear so Emma does the only thing she knows, she sends a telegram to her childhood friend Malachi Shaw.
Malachi Shaw, our reluctant hero, has been in love with Emma since they were children and wastes no time riding to Emma's rescue, and although he would rather be tortured then to admit his feelings to Emma, Malachi cannot resist the temptation to see her again,
Karen Witemeyer has produced another first rate book. Her character are unbelievably well written. Emma is an independent and smart, yet humble enough to realize her need for help.
These two make a wonderful couple, each becoming more dependent on the other as well as God as their relationship begins to grow and blossom. Their relationship was amazingly realistic and believable and it added so much to the story.
Worth a note, there were several great secondary characters, and among these I can see several having their own stories. Emma's aunts Bertie and Henry were a delight and they added significantly to the storyline.
The story moved along well enough to keep the reader engaged. I would highly recommend this book, or any others that this author has written.
tish5 Stars Out Of 5Cute book!February 23, 2017tishQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What a cute book. Some humor and romance and mystery all in one. The story starts out when Emma Chandler finds Malachi in her Aunts barn. He is cold and wet and she gives him her coat and clothes and shoes. They become childhood friends and her Aunts let him stay. He always protected her and watched over her. H really cared for her. He had to leave because of a problem he had when he tried to protect her from a rich boy. He had to leave or face charges. Then the book shows them grown. He is a blaster for the railroad and she started a town for women who were abused and mistreated. The town she started was being attacked by someone and she needed his help. When he got her letter he rushed to help her. He called her his angel but never felt he was good enough for her. She always cared for Malachi and when he comes to help the town from a bad guy there love for each other develops. Can not wait for book Two to come out. Love her books.
