Overall: I purchased the NLT Pray for Life Bible, hoping that it would highlight the many, many Scriptures which uphold the value of human life (the sanctity of life), but also the numerous Old Testament passages in which God condemns the horrific practice of child sacrifice to pagan gods (and the parallel of abortion in today's world). If you are looking for this kind of information and application to today's culture, the ESV Study Bible, the Lutheran Study Bible (ESV), the NKJV Study Bible, the CSB Tony Evan's Study Bible and the NLT Life Application Study Bible will be better choices. Unfortunately, the NLT Study Bible and the CSB Study Bible almost completely ignore the sanctity of life in their study notes.

The NLT Pray for Life Bible is essentially a through-the-Bible-in-one-year arrangement of Scripture with a short, somewhat generic, prayer for life included with each day's reading. There are also 12 short articles, interspersed throughout, which highlight the value of the unborn, disabled, elderly, children, the addicted, etc.

Translation / Quality: The New Living Translation (NLT) is the most accurate of the thought for thought (academic paraphrase) translations and incredibly readable. I would recommend this translation for any age. Other than the format listed above, there are no other helpful features in this Bible (i.e. study notes, subject index, prayer index, concordance, etc.). The paper and print quality and font size are very good for a paperback (glued spine) Bible at this price point. I applaud Tyndale's effort to highlight the sanctity of human life, but this Bible could have been so much more.
