In 1967 Joni Eareckson Tada was injured in a diving accident at 17 years old, leaving her in a quadriplegic state with minimal use of her hands. After two years of rehabilitation, Joni re-entered the community with new skills and a fresh determination to help others in similar situations.
Joni and Friends began in 1979 at Joni’s house as she and her friends responded to the many questions and needs pouring in from families affected by disability who read Joni’s books or had seen the movie of her life. From the beginning, Joni, her staff, and volunteers devoted their energies to developing Christ-centered programs and services which would help meet the spiritual and practical needs of disabled people and their families, including Family Retreats, the distribution of wheelchairs and Bibles worldwide to people affected by disability, and church training at local and national disability ministry conferences. Joni and Friends continues to reach out around the world to people and families affected by disability with the love of Christ and the practical help they need.

Eva P. Scott5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful Bible, Great InsightsNovember 13, 2016Eva P. ScottQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Bible I purchased is a hardback and is fairly heavy, and heavy-duty. It comes with a beautiful dust cover, but the hardback cover without the dust jacket has a beautiful gold design with the verse from John 16:33 on it if you mess up the cover for some reason at a later date.
Some of the things It includes:
The complete text of the Bible with notes throughout the text connecting the text to struggles people have in life. For example, when God calls Moses, he struggles with a speaking difficulty. The notes shows how God worked with Moses through this difficulty.
Each book of the Bible has an introduction which gives you the themes of that book to suffering and disabilities. It includes an extensive topical Guide in the front of the Bible to where to find themes and devotions in this Bible.
It includes stories of people in history who had struggles in life and how they overcame and became an influence on many people.
This Bible has a section in the back that has information written by helping professions on how to be a welcoming church, "Why Am I Disabled," a section on addictions, how to be a friend of someone who has a disability, an extensive Dictionary and Concordance, a list of recommended resources and several pages of colored Bible maps.
This Bible is a useful study Bible from many different angles. I believe it will take quite some time to work through all of the material.
I would suggest purchasing it for a friend who is struggling with life, for yourself if you are struggling with why there are these types of problems in the world.
The type style is not large, but the white background and type style makes it easy on the eyes.
I had purchased the Bible directly through the publisher in a pre-publication sale, but I would suggest Christian Book, because they are a good value for purchases like this. The publisher didn't require a review for the purchase.
