I had mixed emotions about this Bible. If one wants a NKJV wide margin reference Bible, this format Bible by Cambridge is the only game in town. I read good reviews about this hard back model so I had high hopes for this one. First the pros: The cover looks very nice and seems sturdy, along with the nice binding. It lays flat nicely and is easy to handle. The Bible was also lighter than expected for a wide margin. The maps, fifteen of them, are excellent and includes the rarely seen map index. The center cross references are numerous and either left or right justified, making it easy to determine if the reference is in the left or right column. The concordance is a decent size and well done. The outside and bottom margins are very roomy. The cons: As others have mentioned, the font is too small. Thanks be to God I have decent eyesight for my age but this Bible is not comfortable to read. The verse numbers are also small, making it harder to find a particular verse. I am not a fan of the red letter format but there was no choice of an all black letter edition. The red text is medium at best and not pleasant to read. The index to the maps is color coded, which is nice, but two of the text colors are that same red and a light orange, which is even worse to read. While the outside margin is very roomy, I can't understand why Cambridge makes the inside margin so much smaller. That margin is harder to write in even if the margins were of the same width. To make it even smaller defies logic. The paper is a disappointment. Other reviews mentioned the nice paper but maybe they were referring to the much more expensive leather editions. I found this paper to be thin and it showed a lot of ghosting. I wonder how it would hold up after writing notes and the passage of time. Overall, the thin paper and small font were a deal breaker for me. It's almost as if Cambridge doesn't expect people to actually read this Bible and make notes in it. But the paper and text are the most important part of the Bible since it's God's Word! I really tried to get used to this Bible, but after a few attempts I realized this is not the wide margin Bible for me and gave it away.
The font is too small and the verse numbers are hard to see in the NT part. Doesn't lend itself to quick passage finding. The margin spaces could be a little larger. It is nice looking in appearance, but won't meet my needs.
I am a seminary student and i wanted a high quality Bible to keep text notes and references from my classes. I had very high expectations for the quality of this Bible and I am not disappointed! The paper is very high quality and a nice weight for notes. Some hard cover Bibles feel cheap, but not this one. It has a nice texture, feels very sturdy and looks very nice. The only thing is it is slightly larger and thicker than i would prefer, but not horribly so and it's an acceptable compromise for the wide margins, heavier weight paper and extra notes pages in the back. Also, the text may be a little small for some but the bright white paper and crisp typeface make it easy enough for me to read. I'm very satisfied and expect this Bible will last long after I've completed my formal studies!
I was so excited to find an affordable wide margin bible. The hard back is great! It folds flat and fits nicely in my cover. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the size of print. I don't recall the description noting the print size.
I am really pleased with the purchase and have been spending time getting use to the chapter format as this is a change from my well worn bible I used.
