this Bible is such a blessing.

its a powerful instrument to study the Word of God and to put it into effect.

the way its strategically put together makes a huge impact for the reader.

To many "study Bibles" are mostly teaching by someone with his own version of Christianity. This is one of the few that stick with God's word. The Thompson Chain Reference system does take a little effort to get used to, but it is a great way to find Bible passages relevant to your study. There are no short cuts to Bible knowledge. Everyone has questions when they read the Bible. If you just drop your eyes down to the bottom of the page and get someone else's explanation, you are not learning God's word, you are just learning what the writer thinks. Even if the topical chains are not "perfect", you are always asking yourself "what do these passages say about my question?". Take that extra effort and you will always find more verses on your topic than if you did not use the references. God bless your Bible study,

On top of that, it is a well made Bible and easy to read font. And go for the nicer leather cover, it just feels better and you will be using it for a long time. Personally, I don't like the thumb index, you will get used to the order of the books and then the cut outs for the index are in the way and begin to wear out. That's just me. The index is very popular.

My favorite and, in my opinion, the absolute best Study Bible you can get is The Thompson Chain-Reference Bible (in NKJV of course). I have a TCR that I received as my first Fathers Day gift the year my daughter was born (2004). It is still in great condition and I use it regularly in my lesson and sermon preparations.

What makes the TCR such a good Study Bible is that it doesnt have commentary on the verses. Rather, it has topical listings that link verses together. It is a great tool in line with the popular saying, The Bible is its own best commentary. It also has a lot of good chart lessons and book overviews.

As a pastor this is, along with my Hebrew and Greek texts, my main resource for study and sermon preparation. I strongly recommend everyone to obtain a copy of this valuable resource.

As always, great delivery time by Christianbook. In terms of craftsmanship, superb quality. I own a variety of study bibles, which are very helpful, however, this is truly a reference bible. God's most precious holy word comes first, and you can look up things in it for yourself. If you prefer to learn by looking things up for yourself, this bible is probably for you. Don't be mistaken, the added sections are fantastic, and I'd buy it for the archaelogical supplement alone, but this is a participatory bible, not for spoon feeding. And although the system is over a hundred years old, it's been updated nicely and good work never goes bad.
