Good, but is not made for notes

I was very disappointed when I got it.

I have been waiting for it, and when I got it, I was disappointed. The paper is so extremely thin, that writing very lightly with pen would not only go through the next page, but even page after. The Bible looks beautiful, it provides a space for writing, but the paper that it is printed on, is not made to be written on at all.

I'm really pleased and happy with my new bible. I would have liked larger print.

I have been using this Bible for a couple of months now with my Bible Art Journaling. It has wide unruled margins (about 1 1/2 inches) that are perfect for illustrating the Scriptures. When I am using colored pencils I don't do anything to prep the pages. They are still thin Bible pages but are very sturdy. When I use Micron Pens or watercolor or acrylic I do put a sealer on the page so the color/ink won't bleed through.

I happen to like doing art in this Bible but it would also be perfect for just regular study notes.

I got this wonderful NKJV Note-Taker's Bible from the publisher (Zondervan) for free in exchange for a free and unbiased written review. I own several journaling type and wide margin Bibles, so I have plenty for comparison. This version is the hardback which is obviously not gorgeous, but for Bible Journaling (follow the link for my Pinterest page) it's fabulous because you can do all sorts of lovely things with the cover and create something beautiful and personal.

    Let's take a peek inside.

It has generous, unlined margins, which I feel are ideal for the art if not the notes.

The font is a little bigger than most of these type Bibles and the page is unencumbered by notes, etc. on the bottom of the page so there is room for artwork and your notes there as well.

this is an ideal option of Bible for those who would like to design their own artistic cover.

My favorite things about this Bible are the cleaner pages and the larger font. I highly recommend this Bible as a great choice for artwork as well as just personal study and note taking.

I'd love it if the margins were a tad bit wider, but that's just me.

Once upon a time, I talked to a man in the Bible bookstore. I told him everything I wanted in a Bible. I asked him if he could find one for me. He did... for about $250!

    What did I want?

    -New King James Version

-The Bible, just the Bible and nothing but the Bible. No notes or extras.

-Large print for these forty-something eyes

-Lots of room in the margins. I'm a note taker during church and Bible study.

-Leather cover that would last for years.

Obviously, I didn't purchase the $250 Bible. I've been making do with a Bible I've had for around fifteen years. The covers and end pages have been glued back in, I've written in many of the margins and inside the covers and note pages. It's not perfect, but it's mine.

When BookLook offered me the NKJV NOTE-TAKER'S BIBLE for review, I jumped at the opportunity. Could this be the Bible I was looking for? It's a 2014 edition from Zondervan, and I couldn't find any pictures of the pages, so I decided to try it.

    What did I get?

    -New King James Version

-The Bible, just the Bible and nothing but the Bible. Well, for the most part. There are just a few notes at the bottom that clarify if there is a difference in texts or something of that sort... not just opinions.

-Lots of room in the margins for notes... hence the name.

-A well made Bible with a sturdy, black, glossy cover with a pattern that looks like it's textured, and a thick dust jacket like the picture above.

-The pages are light weight like a Bible but not so wimpy thin that I'd fear tearing them easily.

    -Bright white paper

    -Dark black ink

    -Christ's words in red letters

    -Double column text

    -Small print

    -Narrow inner margins

    -One line space between chapters

    -Chapter names in bold print

    -Not too heavy

    So, do I like it?

    Yes and no

Yes! It has three of the five things I wanted in a Bible. That's more than most Bibles I've examined.

    -New King James Version

-The Bible, just the Bible and nothing but the Bible. No notes or extras.

-Lots of room in the margins. I'm a note taker during church and Bible study.

-Plus it feels good and sturdy in my hands and not too heavy.

    No!

-The print was just too small for my forty-something eyes.

So, I'm going to give it to my seventeen year old daughter for Christmas. She's been looking for something like this, too; and her eyes are much younger. ~smile~ I think she's going to enjoy it.

Q: Are these pages really thin or somewhat thicker so that they don't bleed through so bad?

A:

The pages of this Bible are thicker than standard Bible paper to make notation easier. However, we do recommend using a Bible marking pen for your notetaking to ensure that there won't be any bleedthrough or yellowing, which can be caused by standard ink pens.

Q: Does this Bible have a sewn binding?

A:

Yes it has a sewn binding
