This study Bible is such a wonderful tool for Christians because of its wealth of information that it contains. It has 15,000 conservative notes for the text, to explain passages and certain words. At the bottom of the page throughout the Bible, it contains Strongs number of the Hebrew and Greek to bring out more of the meaning of those words for a deeper study. The Word's of Christ are in black, articles on key Bible doctrine to get in-depth understanding.
Each Book has an introduction, outlines, timelines, and "Christ in the scriptures" to show you how Christ is revealed in that specific Book. It will get you ready to delve into the Book you are about to read. You will also find the harmony of the Gospels to see what Book records certain parables of Jesus. It also has in-text maps to see where places were and where people traveled.
At the back of the Bible, it has a Deluxe Nelson concordance to search for people, places, and themes. Also in the back, it contains Eight pages of full-color maps and a Topical index. It has Silver page edges to protect it from getting dirty with one ribbon bookmark. The color of the inside is brown for the centered columns, the Hebrew and Greek Strongs number section and the headings are as well in brown.
The structure of this wonderful study Bible is a disaster. It does not have a sewn binding so it will not hold up for everyday use. The pages are a little too thin and the maps in the back look like its coming loose. If you want a study Bible that will last you a long time this isn't it. The color of the cover is turquoise with Blue around the edge. It feels very soft and nice but without a sewn binding you will be left with just the cover in your hands since all the pages will fall out eventually.
I will not recommend this study Bible for that issue alone since it is what holds up the Bible and is very important.
I received a complimentary copy of this Bible for an honest review from BookLookBloggers.com
Ayuda Miniserial5 Stars Out Of 5Outstanding Study BibleOctober 10, 2016Ayuda MiniserialQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In recent decades, outstanding Study Bibles have been released by Christian publishing houses, which is always beneficial for those who like to study the Bible. Some of these bibles have become classic resources due to their seriousness and helpfulness in behalf of readers, and have been in the market for years. That is the case of the NKJV Study Bible second edition. Thomas Nelson has released this classic with a new design, new features, and more resources.
From the outside to the inside
The Bible I received for the purpose of this review is eye-catching at first. The two tones rich turquoise/rich midnight Blue imitation leather cover feels strong, durable, and flexible at the same time. Its embroidery with white thread constitutes an elegant touch for this Bible. The classic Holy Bible inscription is not imprinted on the front the cover but in the spine. Its design resembles a diary. The age of the pages looks silver gray and match with the blue tone cover.
What Readers Will Find Inside
Readers will feel content with this Bible in terms of resources and information. This Bible has plenty of study notes: more than 15,000. The notes are very thorough and written with the cooperation of prominent scholars. It also contains 150 Bible times and culture notes, 114 articles on key Bible doctrines, 350 word studies with Strong's numbers, Christ in the Scriptures" feature, topical index, concordance, charts, in-text maps, and full-color maps.
Every book is preceded by a convenient introduction including an outline and a timeline pertaining to the historical context of the book. The introduction also contains the theme Christ in the Scripture, which has the purpose of presenting Christ in every book of the Bible.
The page layout is the classic two-column distribution. I personally like the cross-references placed between the two columns. The margin is extremely reduced and does not allow for personal notes.
The sheets are made of ultrathin paper, for the sake of weight (3 lbs). It would be heavier with a less thin paper.
The NKJV Study Bible offers lifetime warrantee. According to Thomas Nelson, If the Bible you purchased fails because of manufacturing defects, you may return it for a free replacement. If the same Bible is no longer available, it will be replaced with a Bible of the same or greater value. This guarantee does not apply to normal wear and tear. That is simply amazing.
The NKJV Study Bible second edition is called to continue being an exceptional and durable resource for pastors and Bible students in general. The seriousness of the notes and the convenient study resources make of this Bible one of a kind.
I received a copy of this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255
TimIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Great Bible, poor choice of designating which study bible this isOctober 7, 2016TimIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Seriously, Thomas Nelson needs someone to help them with the naming of their bibles. I did a search on CBD site with "NKJV Study Bible" and it returned 98 hits for that phrase in the titles of bibles, with the vast majority of them coming from Thomas Nelson. They need more descriptive titles for their different bible. Calling one a NKJV Study Bible, Full-Color Edition versus NKJV Study Bible, Large Print versus NKJV Study Bible, Personal Size versus NKJV Study Bible is just not helpful in my opinion, and since that is what this review is about, it is something I will continue to knock Thomas Nelson for each time I review on of their line of NKJV Study Bibles.
Rant over, for now. As for the product in question, this is an imitation leather study bible in two shades of blue. A dark blue edge border and a lighter blue for the main body of the cover. It has a textured feel which is nice, and it lays flat when open, also a nice feature.
Textual features, from the manufactures description, include:
More than 15,000 verse-by-verse study notes
150 Bible times and culture notes
114 articles on key Bible doctrines
350 word studies with Strong's numbers
"Christ in the Scriptures" feature
Deluxe Nelson concordance
I will say the concordance is much nicer and more detailed than many bibles contain. I really like the depth of this "deluxe" concordance. Also the topical index is a great feature. In the front materials there are lists with page numbers for the articles, the in-text maps, and the word studies. This allows one to jump in and use the study materials alone, or just as part of the reading.
All in all, I love the bible, just really struggle with trying to keep straight what study bible this one really is. In my opinion, this version would be great for pastors and teachers, moreso than some of the other NKJV Study Bibles, You just have to figure out which one it is to get the right one. Oh yeah, it's the blue one.
I received a copy of this book from Booklook Bloggers for review purposes. A positive review was not required, and all thoughts regarding this book are my own.
Thrift Schooling5 Stars Out Of 5My New Favorite BibleOctober 6, 2016Thrift SchoolingQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am beyond elated with my new Bible. That's right, MY new Bible. So many of the books and Bibles that I have been reviewing have been for my kids but I finally went ahead and picked one out for me, and I couldn't be happier. When my NKJV Study Bible arrived in the mail, it felt like Christmas morning. I opened the package and was impressed with the quality packaging of this Bible. This would make a perfect gift for you, a friend, spiritual leader, or anyone who wants to delve deeper into God's Word.
The cover is a rich, turquoise, leathersoft, material. This Bible is thick and heavy. As it should be since it includes many, many study helps. Which I love. It includes the following:
* Over 15,000 clear, readable, verse-by-verse study notes
* Bible times and culture notes
* Word studies with Strong's numbers
* In-text maps and charts
This is only a portion of what is included. This Bible is extremely reminsciant to my old, falling apart study Bible. It has a cross-reference section down the middle of each page. About one-third of the page, the bottom portion, includes your study notes. Every once in a while, a word is highlighted on the very bottom of the page with the Hebrew or Greek word included along with the Strong's reference. It then expounds upon the word and oftentimes includes cross-references. The only difference between this Bible and my old study Bible is that this one does not have as many Strong's numbers included. My former Bible included the numbers within the text whereas this one is only included within the word studies sporadically found throughout the Bible. Even though there are less in this Bible, the study of the words expounded upon is more involved.
Overall, I am thrilled to begin using this as my main Bible. I plan on using this one on a daily basis and even bring it along with me when I go out. Note, this Bible is huge. I am used to carrying a large Bible and have a large diaper bag to carry it in. If I am going out on a date or somewhere without the baby and am only bringing a purse, I will most likely bring a smaller, pocket Bible. This Bible is intended to be used for personal study and I imagine many people would not want to carry this large Bible around. It depends on your preference.
