"The Greatest Story Ever Told" is more than just a cliché.
The Story reveals the unfolding, grand narrative of the Scriptures. Using the stylistic beauty of the New King James Version, this rendering of the Bible allows its stories, poems, and teachings to come together in a single, compelling read.
God goes to great lengths to rescue lost and hurting people. That is what The Story is all about: the story of the Bible, God's great love affair with humanity.
Condensed into 31 accessible chapters, The Story sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. Using the classic, timeless text of the New King James Bible, it allows the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible to read like a novel. And like any good story, The Story is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption; and this story's true!
From the foreword by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee:
"This book tells the grandest, most compelling story of all time: the story of a true God who loves his children, who established for them a way of salvation and provided a route to eternity. Each story in these 31 chapters reveals the God of grace—the God who speaks; the God who acts; the God who listens; the God whose love for his people culminated in his sacrifice of Jesus, his only Son, to atone for the sins of humanity."
- The story of the Bible—in its own words. Selections from the New King James Version (NKJV) Bible with short transitions to connect the reader to the continuing story
- Events, characters, and teachings of the Bible arranged chronologically
- Timelines of Bible events
- New King James (NKJV) Bible text
Church families around the globe can now embrace The Story for a full ministry year through worship, small group studies, and family activities.

Lady Adams-Shotwell5 Stars Out Of 5THE STORY (NKJV)December 7, 2017Lady Adams-ShotwellQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5First, I'd like to say "I love Hardback books! The quality & type of paper used in this book is really fantastic (rarely used anymore). I wakeup every day looking forward to my next encounter with the journey I'm taking with God's people. I'm able to really follow, understand, and feel in my spirit all that I read. 'The Story'; well, it helps me feel especially closer to God...and, KNOWING GOD is far, far Greater - than just simply knowing 'of' God!"
BJ5 Stars Out Of 5NKJV, The StoryFebruary 9, 2017BJQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Haven't read the entire book yet but so far very satisfied with content. I don't have a NKJV Bible so have not compared it to that. Like the quality of the paper and the hard cover. May buy more later for gifts.
seekerGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5The Story, NKJVApril 23, 2016seekerGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've had this book for a few years and find it extremely easy to read. Sections of Scripture are quoted accurately, with composed transitions inserted between the sections of Scripture to link them together more quickly while still remaining easy to follow. This is not the entire Bible quoted directly, and is not meant to be. It's sort of a condensed version which includes the main stories, so it's much faster to read. It gives a wonderful overview of the Bible, especially helpful to those who've never read the Bible in its entirety, and is a great read for those who have. When you've read it, you feel like you've had a nice refresher course. :-)
I've purchased several of these for gifts, along with a couple of the NIV84 version of The Story. The format of both is like that of a regular book, very inviting to pick up and read. They make great gifts for any Christian, and also for the non-believer, who might just read a "regular (-looking) book."
While of course not meant as a substitute for your complete Bible, I think this is a very well done product. The price is nice too!
bhx215 Stars Out Of 5The StoryMarch 4, 2016bhx21Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I purchased three of these books, one for myself, and two for friends. I love the book. I read 4 chapters before I put it down even tho I knew what was coming next. Both of the friends to whom I gave a book loved it also. It is so much easier to read than the Bible itself - although I am reading the book with my Bible opened to the same passage.. I have shown it to other friends who also want a copy. Thanks
