If you are looking for a highly portable, compact and lightweight leather bound bible in NKJV, this bible deserves your serious consideration. I love this little bible!
It's main attribute is its PORTABILITY. It is light weight, sized right and easy to carry. It is the bible I carry to church every Sunday.
The leather cover is beautiful. Its cowhide is soft to the touch and displays beautiful grain. The front and back covers have a fair amount of yapp.
Inside, the font is 12 point text and very easy to read. The words of Christ are in red. The paper is somewhat thin but that contributes to its light weight. The references are at the end of the verse. There are very thin margins so it is not suitable for note taking. This keeps size and weight down. This bible is a reader only.
It has a small but adequate concordance and 8 color maps in the back. I got the indexed version which is a plus. This bible is a great value, a quality bible for its price point.
I highly recommend this Bible to anyone looking for a NKJV Reference Bible. Keeping in mind this isn't a Study Bible, you might want to consider investing in a good Bible Commentary and Bible Dictionary to maximize your reading and study. Three good one-volume commentaries tied to the NKJV are: 1. Believer's Bible Commentary; 2. The MacArthur Bible Commentary; 3. Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Commentary. The only Bible Dictionaries I know of that are tied to the NKJV are Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary (2014), and its predecessor, Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary (1995). I disagree with MEB's review (below). In my opinion, there is no better publisher of Bibles than Broadman & Holman, both in terms of quality and value.
The Bible itself is outlined well but the binding is very poorly made for a person that uses it on a daily basis. If you want to use your Bible for a couple hours a day then get another one. We ordered one and didn't have it six months and the binding peeled and the pages starting coming loose. We sent it back for another one and it also started to peel. I would not recommend this bible for anyone serious about Bible study.
