This study Bible is absolutely fantastic! The maps, illustrations, tables, essays, and photos are so helpful with learning about the Bible. The other features are discussed in many other reviews.
The only downside to me is that it is much less colorful than the KJV version of the same Bible. I expected it to be just as colorful. This is a very important issue to me. I don't think that it should be advertised as "full-color" when it has less than half the coloring of the KJV and the color is not as vivid as in the KJV version. That is the only reason that I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.
I bought the 9.5x7" version. First impressions: It's quite big, and a little heavier than I expected; you can really whack someone with it in a heated debate. Should be still okay to carry with me to church, although I expect I will use it more for study at home. The 9-point-size text is clear and very legible, and the comments, although smaller, are also easy to read. I think it's just the right size for a study bible and just what I was looking for. What I love the most about this is the focus on the actual bible text - the typography and layout of the text is much better than many other study bibles. For me, readability is the most important thing and this bible really does a good job at that. Markings and references are clear but not intrusive; the comments are well balanced against the bible text and don't take up too much space. Page bleed-through is not distracting, although I haven't tried highlighting anything yet, but I think the pages will do fine with a moderate highlighter. The full-color aspect of this bible really does set it apart - it's a really nice feature.
