This is a great Bible for the younger teens. It has some good devotionals and extras in there to keep the kids interested in reading daily.

I'm not a big fan of the NIV translation, however, it is what is used for Sunday School material. I teach Jr./Sr. High kids (at this time girls) and they receive a Bible from the church when promoted into my class. This year we decided to get them a devotional Bible. We got an extra one to have on hand. I used it for a few weeks to see what it is like. I LOVE IT! In fact I asked to get a couple more for the girls who had been in my class. I am working with them this year to begin a habit of devotional time for themselves. I love that the devotions are written by teens, the introductions to the books are awesome. And I am a BIG FAN of hard cover Bibles. I highly recommend this Bible to everyone I talk to that is looking for a Bible for a young person.

I got this bible when I was 13 and now I am 15 1/2. For a while it seemed like it was really cool, but now it seems that the devotions written in it are a bit young for me, so I'd say this would be a great bible for your preteens (maybe 10-13 year olds), but not for older teens. It has a lot of extras, but watch the age.
