I wish I could say I am pleased with this Devotional Bible. It doesnot do justice to L.B. Cowan's writings. I believe the editors have taken the some of the devotionals and changed them to fit the style of this Bible. Mrs. Cowan's writings are truly amazing how they inspire us to dig into God's word and have stood the test of time. unfortunately this Bible may be the work of many but the editors have taken her writings and re-written them to fit this version of the Bible
i love this devotional Bible. The everyday readings are not only practical but very insightful and inspiring. Since using it myself I've ordered several for friends. The cost is also an added blessing. I highly recommend it.
I had been watching this devotional on here for some time, I was really looking forward to buying it when the right time came along! So I had met that time and ordered it in the Hard cover, it comes with a dust jacket, as well as the cover looks the same so for those of you who don't like dust jackets it an be taken off and still look nice! One thing that was missing was the ribbon marker, it does say in the online description that it has one as well as on the book itself, yet it is missing? Not to big of a deal but just something to mention. For some reason I can't put my finger on it but it is not what I was expecting, I have read a couple different devotionals where I haven't been able to stop at that days, but with this one, I read the first couple and haven't wanted to even pick it up again! It could be my age 30 or even that I am a new Christian, and maybe just don't get it, or that I just don't fit with this devotional, but from what I read about it and the sample I was really excited to buy it but just can't get into it! The printing is excellent size for anyone with vision problems, actually is the biggest size I have seen yet but not to big! So I just recommend you do some research before you buy, because the samples on here make it look so great, but It was alittle disappointing. Again could just be my age, or that I am new christian! Anyhow good luck!
I have really stayed away from reviewing Bibles and I'm going to put in a disclaimer at the start of this review. I'm by no means an "expert" in the various bibles and even versions. What I do know is that I've always been extremely encouraged by the devotions found in the Streams in the Desert. They have ministered greatly to my soul, especially in those times when I was wanted to lament to the Lord. The devotions would point me to the word and the truth of God's promises as a balm to my soul.
With that said, I was super excited to receive this Bible that would have the devotions sprinkled throughout it. I really appreciated having access to the devotions, alongside the reference text. I think in the past, I may have been guilty of using the devotional and not seeking the Word of God that it was pointing to. The way that this Bible was simply created made it easy to go from devotional to the accompanying Bible text not too far from the devotions. Likewise, for Bible reading, I was studying particular books for my personal study and to prepare to teach and I was richly blessed and encouraged by the devotions related to what I was studying.
