StoryGirlAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Journal the Word BibleNovember 23, 2016StoryGirlAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I had been admiring the journaling Bibles in my local Books-A-Million not that long ago, and I thought the idea was neat. It seemed like a worthwhile keepsake, not only to remind you of what God has done throughout your life, but also for maybe your children and grandchildren to one day see. This edition has a lovely cover and is well-made, even if the NIV isn't my preferred translation (but it was the only one available for review, so that was that-although there are other editions available if you want). Also, I wish there wasn't any wording on the side or that it simply said "Holy Bible:" the "NIV Journal the Word" logo seems a little commercial for my taste. However, the inside is great, although the print is small. There are lines for writing, but they are faint enough so that you could draw of doodle along the sides if you wanted to, as well.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Philip5 Stars Out Of 5Great Bible--for womenNovember 18, 2016PhilipQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I have just received two different journaling Bibles (They came through the Booklook Bloggers program, and I am not required to write a favorable review); the NIV Journal the Word in a nice pink floral clothbound edition, and the KJV Journal the Word in the ubiquitous "Moleskine-esque" black with large print. Their formatting is identical to all the other journal Bibles on the market. They have one column of text with and inch or inch and a half margin to the outside of the page. That margin is lightly lined if you want to record you thoughts on the lines, or ignore them and make some word art.
I have two other journaling Bibles in my home already. My wife's is a brown imitation leather from Crossway, and the other is a black "Moleskine-esque" edition, both in ESV. Having sat and read them both, written in them both, I knew that there is a great benefit to having a journal Bible that is hardback. These two new ones fit that bill, the hard back feels sturdier in the hands. It begs to be placed on a table in written in, but it won't throw a fit if you have to do so in you lap at church.
The NIV version is marketed to women, at least in this version. The cloth cover looks and feels nice. The cover changes design near the spine and becomes solid blue, which looks nice. This series of Journal the Word Bibles comes in a number translations and cover options. The translation choice is a personal one, but I would highly recommend that you stick to a hard cover edition.
Treenz4 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful cover! Great for adding notes or embellishmentsNovember 18, 2016TreenzQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This Bible has a really beautiful cloth type cover on it - really pretty! The pages are a light cream color, rather than the usual white, which looks really attractive also. The pages are laid out in one column per page and down the side is a lined space for journalling in. The layout of the text is very clear and easy to read. The text size may be slightly smaller than usual?
This Bible is purely set up for the journalling aspect. If you are after a concordance or maps and the usual bits like that - they are not included in this Bible. It starts with a Table of Contents, Preface and then right into Genesis.
If you like to write notes and thoughts next to
verses - this Bible is perfect for you as it provides the space and the lines. The lines are pale enough that if you feel creative and want to do more artistic work, that they wouldn't draw away from it. The paper quality is very nice too and would hold up to pens.
I think this is a great Bible! And I just can't get my eyes off that beautiful floral cloth cover - it really is beautiful in real life! I would recommend it for anyone who loves journalling and being artistic to express themselves.
Please note that I was sent a copy of this Bible for purposes of review, however the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
KelSMiami, FLAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Be creative with the Word!November 16, 2016KelSMiami, FLAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Journal the Word bible is a gorgeously designed bible with a pink floral cloth cover, delicate onion skin style pages with single spaces lined sidebars to write thoughts, journal notes and even stamp and color!
Bible journaling is one of the newest phenomenons that has taken over the bible and christian book industry. I've had the opportunity to see many in a variety of bookstores but this bible far and wide stands out well above the crowd! The cover art alone is simply breathtaking. The feel to the soft cotton fabric with shades of pinks and deep purple and blues makes it eye catching, yet it's also a great statement piece on a bookshelf and a conversation starter for a coffee table.
The inside pages have standard biblical print in both the Old and New Testament. The sidebar space for journaling and coloring is about 2" x 7". I was able to stamp on the edges of my bible and it did not bleed through, however, I played it safe and colored with colored pencils rather than bold colored markers. The side is lined with gold and there is a beautiful satin ribbon bookmark sewn into the binding so you will have a way to remember you space where you left off.
The only drawback, should it even be one, is to note that the print in this particular bible is the print is very tiny. It's also a very heavy book, especially if you are carrying this in a bible case or purse ... at 1,395 pages, it has some weight to it!
"He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaverby any sort of workman or skilled designer." ~ Exodus 35:35
My level of how much I absolutely LOVE this bible is beyond measure. It's gorgeous, it feels like a million dollars in my hand. God asks of us to read and share His word as the gospel and to be creative as individuals. What a wonderful world to be able to combine the two and creatively express our understanding of the world through art and journaling and drawing!
