This is one is for my boy. He's a new reader (5 years old) so thankfully this NIRV bible breaks the verses down for him to be able to learn to read without too much difficulty. I also like the fact that he can actually color in the bible with the different drawings that are in it, which for him is a HUGE plus.

The devotions are nice, short and to the point. He isn't too concerned with them right now as he's focusing on the Scripture itself for when we do morning devotions.

This is a fun bible, its easy to read, and it's clear it was produced with children in mind.

    {FYI: I received this bible in exchange for my HONEST opinion through the BookLookBlogger program.}

NIrV Kids Devotional Bible, Hardcover Review:

The hardcover is sturdy and the binding is smyth sewn. It has Monday through Friday devotionals for kids and as well as weekends with over 300 devotionals. The devotionals are very simple to understand and easy for a child to comprehend the lessen. Each devotional comes with pictures that can be colored by kids should they choose to.

The fonts seems to be a 9 point, very easy on the eyes. This is not a Red letter edition since the words of Christ are in black. The NIrV is a very easy translation to read especially for kids. This Bible will last you for a very long time, its construction is built to last a kid's occasional carelessness and mishandling (wrath lol). Dimensions are 8.75 X 5.50 X 1.75 (inches).

This NIrV Kids Devotional Bible contains:

Short weekday devotions that help young readers apply Bible lessons for a full year.

52 weekend devotions that teach kids about Gods creation through fun activities like visiting the zoo and gazing at the stars.

"Got It" feature that encourages kids to find answers to Bible trivia themselves.

Book introductions that give helpful information about each book of the Bible.

A dictionary to look up words they want to know more about.

The complete NIrV text, which uses shorter sentences and easier words. Kids can read this Bible on their own!

I'm reading it with my daughter and she's learning the application of the text with the devotionals. She loves to see the pictures and she told me that the size of the fonts is easy for her to read. Each Book of the Bible has a quick introduction with great pictures engaging for the kids. The back of the Bible has a dictionary and a subject guide that will help you find devotionals about certain topics. It has no maps. Overall this is a wonderful Bible for children to read and learn a great deal through the devotionals and study help on their own which is found throughout the Bible.

The Kid's Devotional Bible is the perfect bible for children of all ages. It is written in a kid-friendly tone and uses words, any child can understand. One thing it does lack, though, is pictures and colors. This book is meant for tweens, but is still good for little children due to the kid-friendly tone. This bible features almost a year's worth of daily devotions. I would recommend this for any church, home or anywhere else.

The Kids' Devotional Bible is one of the most versatile Bibles for tweens that I have seen in quite awhile. One of the most important aspects is that it is easily readable by this age group. Reading comprehension is so important and the NIrV is written at a third grade reading level so the tween set should be able to read and comprehend what is before them.

Another thing that I like is the daily devotions. It is set up so that your tween will get a nice overview of Scripture by the end of the year. The weekday devotions give a portion of Scripture for reading then an insightful devotional message and an Ask Yourself question that could be used in conjunction with journaling. Finally for all the budding list-makers and box-checkers there is a place to check that you have read the devotion. (I personally get such a sense of accomplishment from that!) The weekend devotions are similar with daily readings and a devotional thought but then they have a section called Some Things to Think About and Some Things to Do.

All of the above is nice, but my absolute favorite thing is all of the black and white coloring book type of illustrations. They just beg the reader to add some color and inspirations of their own. I've been Bible Art Journaling for quite some time and I'm delighted to say that my tween grand girl is also interested in it. The Kids' Devotional Bible is the perfect way to get your tween started. Teaching your child to express their God given artistic talents while worshiping is a great way to increase time in the Word. There aren't wide margins but the illustrations do have a lot of white space around them that can be used to add your own expressions.

If you are looking for a new way to increase exposure and add enjoyment of Scripture reading time I would suggest that you take a look at the Kids' Devotional Bible. It's done in a black and white color scheme so it would be fitting for either a boy or a girl.

I received a copy of this Bible to facilitate my review.

Disclosure: I have received a copy of the Kids Devotional Bible, NIrV or free from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. All thoughts, opinions, summaries, and content found in this review are my own.

The Kids Devotional Bible is, like the title implies, a devotional bible for children. Included in the over 300 devotions are daily and weekend devotions. They can be found on about every other page of this bible. The devotions include a focus verse, a short paragraph-sized reflection, and then an ask yourself section to encourage the child to think a little deeper about the scripture. The weekend devotions also add in a some things to do section, where the child is encouraged to act on the lesson in the scripture.

The Kids Devotional Bible is written in the New International Readers Version (NIrV). According to the authors, the intention of the NIrV is be very easy to read and understand, which is helpful for kids reading this bible independently.

One of the first things I like to know about a bible is the paper is it thick, see-through, durable, etc?

The Kids Devotional Bible has great, thick paper! I currently own many bibles and this one has the best paper, by far! I am confident my children can use this bible for many years without worrying about tearing from turning the page too quickly.

I was curious to learn more about the NIrV translation because it is not one I was familiar with. At the front of the Kids Devotional Bible, three pages are devoted to explaining the NIrV and answering questions about this translation. Once I finished reading through this information, I was comfortable gifting this bible to my daughter (who is 6) to begin reading through together.

In regards to the devotions, I think they are really great! We have been reading them as a family and Ive been very impressed by our daughters answers to the thought-provoking questions. We typically read another popular devotional as a family, but have all agreed to replace our typical devotional with the Kids Devotional Bible because of the ease and content. With this bible, we are able to read a few chapters and then read the devotion to bring the concepts and lessons to life.

Aesthetically, I like the minimalistic look of this bible. The black and white sketch design on the cover is simple and clean. The three colors (orange, green, and blue) pop against the black and white design. Its a great, gender-neutral cover. The font is easy to read and larger than I expected.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Kids Devotional Bible to parents, grandparents, and other family/friends of children who are ready to independently read the bible. I would also recommend it to my friends with younger children to read through together. The combination of the devotions with the NIrV translation makes this a great, child-friendly bible.
