tickmenotKansas CityGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!August 29, 2019tickmenotKansas CityGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Pictures, lots of pictures! That's what I always wanted in my children's Bible, but there were just a tiny number. Not so with this new one from Zondervan. The cover promises over 750 images, and there surely are that many, some pages even feature two! With all the colors, and fun fonts, it is a pleasure to look through this volume. Additionally, there is a bright, hardback cover with padding, that feels good in your hands. The pages are thicker than thin Bible onesmaking it more durable for sometimes rough little fingers. When all the pages are viewed from the side, there will be found handy, color coordinated edges that makes locating the books easier.
Since this is an introduction to the Bible for young readers, lots was done to make this easy to read and understand. The book's format was created just for kids, and written on a third-grade reading level. However, I think it will be enjoyed by older ages as well. Chapter and verse numbers, along with foot notes were left out to make the text less confusing for kids. The fonts and pictures use lots of bright colors making this very appealing and inviting. This children's Bible is sure to be a hit with kids, give it a try! The only change I would make would be to make the font one point bigger. I highly recommend this five-plus-star children's Bible.

Donna Shepherd5 Stars Out Of 5A "Real" Bible Designed Just for KidsAugust 29, 2019Donna ShepherdQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The NIrV, The Illustrated Holy Bible for Kids had me excited with the word 'illustrated.' I am a visual learner as are many children, so the idea of having a full-size, Genesis-to-Revelation, almost 'grownup' Bible with visual aids will appeal to children from about 4-8 years of age. The single columns make for easy reading, although the font is small for my older eyes, but then again - it's not designed for me. At first glance, I wasn't sure about the lack of verse numbers, but as a Bible teacher, I always stress reading verses in context, so this layout encourages that practice. I didn't realize until I'd handled the Bible a few times that a two-sided poster comes tucked into the back cover with the Holy Land on one side and a genealogy of Bible characters on the other - an excellent bonus and learning tool. This won't be a first Bible, but I would certainly introduce this to children once they are able to handle a special book like this with care.
As a member of the Bible Gateway Blogger Grid, I was given a promotional copy of the book. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Anita5 Stars Out Of 5Gift to KidsJune 27, 2019AnitaQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5We gave this Bible to our incoming kindergarten families in hopes of building a love of family reading God's Word. The print is small but the single column pages and many pictures are a plus for emergent readers. We hope they will enjoy this for years to come. Everyone loved it.
