I went to a brick and mortar store to buy a Bible for my turning 7 year old's birthday. She is probably an advanced reader for her age, but I wanted to definitely get a real Bible that would still be readable for her. I give this five stars because it best accomplishes the purposes I wanted in a children's Bible out of the various options I saw.

I was very interested in the Adventure Bible, NIrV, but ultimately chose this one because of the large font. I saw no other BIbles for children that had a font larger than the standard size, even when designed for kids and with a child's translation (ICB, NIrV). Beginning readers need not only words at their level, but easy to read fonts and formats. I found this Bible to have both. I am planning to purchase this for my almost 6 year old as well.

This is a simple Bible (no additional information on the pages or pictures and colors within the text) with a few pages of pictures, which I think is helpful for my new readers to be able to focus on the text.

My five yr. old daughter asked for a Bible for Christmas. After researching for awhile, this one grabbed my attention. I was interested in: age compatibility, illustrations and easy to comprehend for her age group. I was disappointed as, even though there are illustrations, she cannot read as of yet, and it is based like an adult book with children quality pictures. Her toddler Bible was written to engage the reader with simple easy to understand wording, but again, she had outgrown it. I was hoping this one was the next level. This Bible will be better suited for her when she is about 9 or 10. I have begun the search for another one that really does adapt to her age level.

a great hardcover, colorful Bible for kids or older adults with bad vision. The print is very large and easy to read, there are LOTS of colorful pictures included to keep kids quiet and entertained in church as they look at pictures (and hopefully read the stories). It includes definitions of some Biblical words, and includes a reading plan. Great Bible! If you are looking for a Bible for your new reader this would definitely be one to consider. Likewise, if grandma's vision is bad, this would be easy print for her to read. And she might appreciate the pictures too.
