Booklover104 Stars Out Of 5Good remindersJune 7, 2014Booklover10Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This would be a good baby shower gift. New, first-time moms may not fully appreciate it at the time, but they would eventually. It would be an encouraging gift for new moms. I would also pair it with a devotional that has more Scripture, since that's what is most important.
My only dislike about this book is that it's more like a self-help book in a way. I wouldn't classify it as a book that points you back to the Word and encourages you to spend time in the Word, even in those desperate times during parenting. This book wouldn't be what I would read to grow in my relationship with the Lord. It does have Scripture verses before each devotional. I feel like so much more could be brought out in the Scriptures to those moms who feel at the end of themselves. I think that's where we need to be pointed to our eternal purpose in parenting.
With that said, it is a book that has a variety of devotions. The devotions themselves can be read in less than 5 minutes. Then it has a section to think about.
I received this book free from B & H Books and Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

Messy homes, messier kids, Pinterest fails, lost tap shoes, never ending casseroles, forgetful husbands and the desire to just take a long bath (preferably with chocolate ice cream)_this is called MOTHERHOOD!
Inspired by the endearing, true-to-life movie MOMS' NIGHT OUT,comedian Kerri Pomarolli has created this light, yet inspiring devotional that will definitely make you laugh, but will also help you discover that indeed you are not alone, and that God's gracious provision of love and faithfulness is at work in your life and of your loved ones.
As a Mom, couldn't you use a good laugh?
Whether you're running full-speed-ahead or disappointed that it's Monday (again), you'll find joy in these devotions where Kerri shares hilarious stories and insights on daily life.
This world can be a funny place, and these stories are bound to prove it. Read a devotion to brighten your morning, or catch a few words to make you smile before bed. There's never a bad time for a good laugh, and as a Mom, you need a Moms' Night Out and Other Things I Miss: Devotions To Help You Survive.
Women need this devotional. In particular mothers need this devotional as it is especially designed just for them. A mother's world can be chaotic and physically, emotionally and spiritually draining. Sometimes all you have is a few minutes to catch your breath before the next challenge demands your attention. Kerri Pomarolli knows this and wrote the forty eight devotions included in this book. They are quick to read, funny and very to the point. You will find encouragement, a few points to Take A Moment to Think About and a prayer. I think this book is a necessity for all moms and would make a great gift for any woman.

She's a stand up comic and it shows. Some of the devotions are really funny. Yet within each devotion are serious thoughts about being a mommy. For example, "How do I, as a mother, foster my child's faith in the impossible while still teaching her to live in a fallen world?" It may take a lifetime to learn that. To help apply the lessons in the devotions, questions and a prayer are added to each one.
Sprinkled throughout the devotions are several funny lists, like the Top Ten Worst Texts You Can Send Your Wife on Mom's Night Out. "This kids stuff is easy! Why are you always complaining? P.S. Is the baby with you?"
This is a good devotional for moms who feel overwhelmed, who feel they are alone with their issues, or compare themselves with other moms. You'll be able to laugh at yourself.
Mothers who adhere to a pattern of discipline may not find as much comic relief in these devotions. Many of the funny stories originate in kids getting out of hand.
Nonetheless, there are important issues covered in the devotions. For example, do you grab your iPhone in the morning instead of your Bible? And do you ever wonder why God created Nutella?
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Litfuse for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
247mama5 Stars Out Of 5Do You Need a Laugh and Some Encouragement?May 25, 2014247mamaKerri Pomarolli is hilarious and she brings that clean humor to Moms' Night Out and Other Things I Miss.....Devotions to Help You Survive. While this devotional was inspired by the movie, this is fresh, new material that you will not see anywhere else.
Not only is she funny, y'all she gets it. She understands where we are in these trenches of motherhood. She knows the down and dirty truth of the day to day of being a mommy. She doesn't just come to heckle and make fun though, she knows that we are tired and dirty but that we LOVE being moms. Pomarolli knows it is worth it. She brings us this devotional to make us laugh at the moment and refresh ourselves with God's word so we can make it through the next day...or moment. I must admit I am gobbling up these pages several entries at a time.
Each entry starts with a story (most hilarious, a few serious) and a Bible verse. Then she gives you a couple of questions to think about. The entries end in a prayer. Scattered throughout the book are some very funny lists like "The Top 10 Worst Texts to Send Your Wife on Moms' Night Out". You will laugh while you read this devotional. A lot. You will want to share it with all of your mommy friends. You will also feel relaxed and covered in God's word. You won't feel any condemnation. Amen.
I received a free copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own.

By KERRI POMAROLLI. My oldest daughter (25 years old) recently ordered this book, thinking I might enjoy it, even though my kids are all grown. She was spot-on! This book is a hoot! Kerri brought back many memories from child-raising days and reminded me of sweet times, fun times, and no time for moms to have a night out!! The way she brings God into view for her kids is great_and she is right to use many of the opportunities afforded her through child-rearing . If you are raising children, this devotional book can bring many laughs your way, and brighten your day. If your kids are grown, enjoy reminiscing and getting a good laugh, all the while being reminded of our God's goodness. Thanks for writing, Kerri. Keep up the good work!
