Piscus5 Stars Out Of 5Start Your Day RightJuly 31, 2019PiscusQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My wife and I have used many devotionals through our years together, some comprised simply of Bible passages, others commenting on Scripture, yet others hovering around but never quite landing on the Word of God. Paul Tripp's "New Morning Mercies" is the best we've seen of those which explain and apply Biblical truths. While thoroughly Biblical in its focus, "New Morning Mercies" holds up texts, passages, parables and histories as lenses through which we come to better understand our place in God's creation, and as a flawless mirror in which we see ourselves, both as we are and as God intends.
My wife and I read each day's devotional - just a page, sometimes poetic, sometimes very serious, but always lively and enlightening - at breakfast together, and what we read often comes back as a discussion over dinner, having touched each of us through the day. This is also one devotional which can profitably be opened at random for a spiritual "booster shot" at any time. You may even find yourself reading ahead, just to bask in Tripp's spiritual insights, or returning from time to time to be refreshed by your favorites.
