Garrett Addison’s first case on the job as a criminal investigator for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is the murder of a young girl. He finds close ties to a string of disappearances and the possibility this is the work of a serial killer.
When the FBI comes in to work on the case, Garrett finds himself working with Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the woman he once loved. When yet another girl dies, they are unable to find the killer. Garrett wonders whether he is really agent material. Perhaps he should just walk. It appears the killer is not done with him, or Jordan.

IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Nikki Boyd Files Prequel/SequelDecember 12, 2017IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 4I selected Vanishing Point to review because it was a Nikki Boyd novel, and Ive previously read Lisa Harriss three earlier novels featuring Nikki Boyd, and I thought this was part of the same series. It isnt, but it is.
The Nikki Boyd Files are contemporary Christian suspense novels, each following Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Nikki Boyd through a case. The subplot is her search for her sister, who was abducted outside her school more than ten years ago and hasnt been seen since. Vanishing Point starts before that, with the investigation into an abduction and murder of a teenage girl. The investigators work out its actually the third murder by a previously unrecognised serial killer, dubbed the Angel Abductor by the press.
The book then leaps forward to 2005 and the disappearance of another girlSarah Boyd. We are introduced to Nikki a teacher, and the older sister of the victim. Despite being the character this new series is named for, Nikki Boyd doesnt appear again until the halfway point, in 2006, when another girl disappears.
Ive read Vendetta, Missing, and Pursued, so I know the TBI still hasnt caught the Angel Abductor in 2016. So at the halfway point, Im wondering whats going to happen in Vanishing Point? Is it going to skip ten years in the future and solve the case (in which case the entire first half of the book is backstory)? Or is it going to stay in 2006 and leave the central crime unsolved, a cold case?
Its probably no secret what happens, because the book description gives it away. (Not that I read the book description before I started reading the bookI requested my review copy based on the fact it was about Nikki Boyd, and by Lisa Harris.) Anyway, it all felt a bit awkward.
Having said that, it was a good readplenty of suspense, a little romance, and a solid underlying Christian theme. Recommended for fans of Christian suspense.

ShaiNorfolk, NEAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fast PacedDecember 8, 2017ShaiNorfolk, NEAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Vanishing Point is book four in the Nikki Boyd Files series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and Vanishing Point yanked me into the story right from the first page.
Six missing girls over the course of a decade have left Jordan Lambert and Garrett Addison struggling to find the killer. More than that, they've also had to face their own inadequacies in solving the case.
I think one of the best parts of the book was simply that it took time. Years for the relationship to develop between Jordan and Garrett. It wasn't rushed, and it was very realistic though, at times, I hoped it would happen faster.
The who-done-it was well veiled in this story and had me flipping pages long into the night. I would absolutely recommend any of Lisa Harris' books and Vanishing Point is a great start.
Mrs ARS5 Stars Out Of 5Maddening, intense conclusionDecember 5, 2017Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Vanishing Point is a story that I have been waiting for a long time for. Part of the Nikki Boyd series, we finally are given a detailed look at the crisis that drove Nikki to the law enforcement leaving behind her career as a school teacher. This story starts a few years before Nikki's sister is kidnapped and goes through present day (probably about 12 years overall) and we are given a look at the cases of the previous girls who were taken by the so called Angel Abductor. Whew! This was a very suspenseful book and we get to know the local crime scene agent Garrett and FBI agent Jordan and their trials and frustrations as they race against time to find this very evil individual.
This was a maddening book not only for the detectives and the families, but for the reader as well. Lisa Harris really made her bad guy quite reprehensible and one of the worst ones in all the books I have read so far. He did everything perfect and from the start you could imagine the fear these young girls probably experienced. The absolute anguish of the parents and the desperation of the law enforcement only added to the intense message of the book as to why such an evil person can even exist and do what he has been doing and where is God in all of this?
We also are treated to the romance of Garrett and Jordan and the immense struggles they had effecting their relationship. At times I felt as hopeless as all of these characters and I am glad that we finally received a conclusion to the story of the kidnapping of Nikki's sister, Sarah.
I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Christian Suspense To Keep You On Your ToesDecember 4, 2017Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Vanishing Point is the first novel by Lisa Harris that I've had the pleasure of reading. Although taking a while to build up speed and momentum, Vanishing Point is an action-packed suspense/thriller set to keep you on your toes. Spanning a little over a decade and a pawful of murders, two detectives must decide who to trust and how far they'll go to catch a serial killer that's always one step ahead.
Although this is the fourth book in the Nikki Boyd series, Vanishing Point also makes a great stand-alone read, considering I haven't read any of the other books and had no issues keeping up. But, it is likely to make you want to get a hold of the other books and give them a read too!
While the dialogue seemed a bit too "by the book" at times, I still found myself being drawn into the story and sympathizing with the emotional and spiritual struggles of the main characters. Questioning where God is in the midst of pain and suffering, they each find themselves revisiting the past and wondering about the choices they've made and how God fits in to the equation.
This book is perfect for fans of crime scene shows or suspense novels, who could also use a potent reminder of God's master plan and how some things are worth waiting - and fighting - for. 4/5 stars.
