Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Loved this entire series! For fans of spiritual warfare, pick this entire series up!May 10, 2016Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've been a huge fan of Spiritual Warfare fiction since my introduction to the genre after reading Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness from Frank Peretti. I know find myself drawn to any novels that pertain to the spiritual realm of angels and demons and the unseen warfare that happens all around us without being seen.
Light of the Last is the latest book in the Wars of the Realm series, by Chuck Black and is the perfect fit into the spiritual fiction novel. However since this is book 3 in the series, you must read them in order to understand where the reader will wind up in this novel. Drew Carter has been given the uncanny ability to see into the spiritual realm during an accident in college. However he doesn't understand what it is he sees since he remains unsaved and a non believer, but he knows others can't see what he can. He is also being trained in a unique way to prepare for a future battle and when his talents are put to the test, Drew comes through with flying colors until he takes down two CIA agents and winds up facing prison for the rest of his life unless he tells them what is really going on. But how can Drew really explain it when he doesn't understand what is happening.
The CIA knows the Drew could be extremely valuable to them if he is willing to undergo extensive training and work for them. His only other choice is prison for a very long time. The one condition to accepting the position of working with the CIA is he can't tell anyone he knows nor can he have any contact with them for the next 30 years. What a choice? In the spiritual realm a secret has been uncovered which will put Drew under protection of the angelic armies because if they fail, the darkness will gain a victory that will hold unprecedented consequences for both the seen and unseen world.
I received Light of the Last by Chuck Black compliments of WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this novel in exchange for my personal and honest evaluation. I really loved this series and especially this novel. I hope this will not the be the last. The one thing I wish was because there is a great span of time between the release of each novel, I would love if the author would do a small recap within the storyline to refresh the minds of the readers of his subsequent novels. I do love the character list that is included at the beginning as there are quite a few to keep track of both in the seen and unseen realms of both light and darkness. For me, this one rates a 5 out of 5 stars.

Wars of the Realm #3
By Chuck Black
Drew Carter has never been in as much trouble as he is now. He attacked two federal agents, took out a gang (without any fatalities), was accused of attacking a campus, and has been arrested. And then there are the invaders that he alone can see.
Who are these beings that seem to be at war just outside the visual perception of every other person? And why has he been blessed / cursed with this gift?
Drew Carter's life is about to change in a big way once again, but this time his unique skills are about to be called upon by the U.S. Government. There is a catch though, he needs to sever all ties with his current life. Can he truly cut Sydney out of his life forever?
Light of the Last brings answers as to Drew's importance and why he has attracted the attention of Heaven's legions and the Fallen. The War of the Realm is listed as being a trilogy so this is suppose to be the concluding book in this series. While the story is wrapped up there is room for more to be explored if not in a series continuation perhaps in a spin-off series.
Cloak of the Light is Drew's story while Rise of the Fallen is Validus's. Light of the Last is the exciting culmination of these two stories and it is action packed. This series introduced me to Chuck Black and I have not regretted a single moment spent between these covers exploring the world as seen through the eyes of Drew Carter and those tasked with watching him.
I received a copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.
JessicaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Best book yet in an amazing seriesFebruary 19, 2016JessicaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Drew Carter has gotten himself into a nearly hopeless situation. Just nearly, because hes given a way out join the CIA. Theres one problem, the Invader presence is stronger than ever, and Drew begins to question the motives of those he reports to.
The angel Validus comes to understand just how important Drew is in the spiritual war. He must protect the young man at all costs. The Fallen want Drew dead, and they hold nothing back.
This is the third book in the Wars of the Realm series. I have been waiting for this book to come out since I finished book two, and I was not disappointed. Part of me just wants to say Wow! but thats not really a review, is it? But thats the summation of it. This entire series has been great, but this book was the best by far. Action-packed and intense from the very beginning, and it really doesnt let up. The characters are extremely well-written. The story is engaging. I teared up several times for various reasons. I gasped aloud several times. Just wow.
This book does give the feel of a final installment, but I sincerely hope that this was not the last book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Blogging for Books in return for an honest review.
DanniAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good finishFebruary 18, 2016DanniAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Light Of The Last is the third and final book in Chuck Black's War of Realms Series. Let me say right off that this is not a stand alone book. You have to read the series, otherwise you will understand nothing in this book. There I said it.... now to the fun stuff.
I have read and reviewed all of War of the Realms Series and this book was my favorite. It was a strong conclusion to the series. The book picks up right after the second and encompasses a few years of Drew's life. It takes you through Drew's life as a CIA agent. (Don't worry not a spoiler)
This is a fast paced, military heavy, battle worn book. There are many battles and political conspiracies so if you aren't into those it may not be the book for you. This book is geared toward young adult but I had no problem with it and it didn't feel to "young" for me.
I think this book is very good for the 15 and up crowd. While my daughter may not read it I do know a few boys that will be drooling to finish this series. I can't wait to see what Chuck Black comes up with next.
Jill StanishMidwestAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Spiritual & Political ThrillerFebruary 14, 2016Jill StanishMidwestAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In this third book in Chuck Black's "Wars of the Realm" series, Drew finds himself in custody related to a campus shooting where he was present. FBI agents believe he was part of the planning and the possibility of 40 years in prison is rather sobering. He certainly can't admit that he's seeing invisible invaders ever since a science lab experiment went very wrong. His friend Ben is still in hiding following the disaster and Drew is doing his best to thwart the evil only he seems to be able to see.
A mysterious "Mr. Ross" comes to Drew's rescue by offering him his freedom in exchange for cutting all ties with family and friends and working with the government on highly secretive operations. All the survival skills he learned from his stepfather make him one of the most qualified recruits and soon he's working on the most dangerous missions. But he's not always sure who he can trust and who is really calling the shots. And he still isn't sure who the invaders are that only he can see.
In between missions, Drew is keeping an eye on Sydney Carlyle. Could the key to understanding the invaders be connected to the faith that she so strongly adheres to? As invading forces conspire to thwart Drew at every turn, will he live long enough to find the answers? And can he keep safe the ones he loves and the country he serves?
The book won't make much sense if you have not read at least the first book in the series. Book 2 fleshes out more details but doesn't propel the story line all that much (mainly offering an alternate perspective of the events in Book 1). For those who like political thrillers with a spiritual element, Light of the Last will deliver an unforgettable experience.
