With an explosive start from the first page, this fast paced suspenseful read by Lisa Harris kept me guessing at every turn. Missing is the second book in the Nikki Boyd Files series with Vendetta being the first. Being a huge fan of the first book, I had a large expectation for the second one & Im happy to say it surpassed all of my presumption. The first book is a bit different than the second but I really liked that because it didnt make them just alike. I must forewarn any readers that you really need to read the first book in order to fully grasp the storyline & get the full effect of the characters, but please consider taking the time to read Vendetta because I personally dont think you will be disappointed. One of my favorite things about this series is the progressing romance between the longtime friends, Nikki Boyd and Tyler Grant. We see from the first book that theres a spark between the two lead characters, some readers may get frustrated at the time Ms. Harris is taking to put them together, however personally I believe one of the most beautiful things about it is the friendship that is slowly forming into something more. Another thing I really love is the relationship between Tylers son, Liam, and Nikki. Since shes been in his life since he was born theres a really sweet connection between the two of them. The books really show how the first 48 hours of missing person cases is the most critical, that alone is very interesting to me. The detail in the crime of each book is very intriguing and I think you might find it so as well if you like mysteries. All in all I give this book 5 stars and cannot wait for the next book Pursued to come out in April of this year!! If you enjoy a mysterious thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend this to you. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions expressed in this book are my own.

After I read Vendetta I was really excited for Missing to come out. Especially after I saw the cover...Amazing!! I know, I know dont judge a book by its cover. Anyway, I was curious as to how Lisa Harris was going to pull the trilogy off, and if she was going to do it well. As far as storyline goes, I was kind of let down. I feel like if I read the first book, then the third book thats coming out next year, I would not have missed anything. Let me put it another way. The first book had no correlation to the second, except for the same characters. Its kind of like Missing was about Nikki Boyds life on the Missing Person Task Force as she solved another case. By no means was it boring, I just felt there was no need for the second book. I would have been happier if she only made two books and then made them longer and went into more detail. It seems like shes focusing too much on the story and not on the background and characters. Now all that aside it was a very entertaining book. It differently has some of the same qualities as Vendetta. Very fast paced, similar in style, so on and so forth. So if you like the first book in the Nikki Boyd Files series, then I think you will find Missing intriguing. I have to say I am super pumped for the third book, Pursued, that is coming out spring of next year. Missing was differently worth the read and buy.

Nikki Boyd is back to action, this time she is called to a homicide even though she specializes in missing persons. When it is discovered that two people are missing and are linked to the homicide, Nikki and her partner, Jack, jump on the case. What she does not expect is for the trail to take her to her friend, Tyler. How can he possibly be involved? What has he been hiding? What does he know? And will Nikki find the missing people before more victims end up in a body bag?

I thoroughly enjoyed Vendetta, the first in the Nikki Boyd Files, and was looking forward to the sequel. Missing did not disappoint! I was engrossed in the story, I was entertained by the characters and their personalities and lives. I am looking forward to what is next in store for Nikki.

*I received this book free from Revell in exchange for my honest review. What I have expressed is entirely my own thoughts.*

Suspend breathing for the duration of this read. You'll need an oxygen mask to make it through. Page-turning suspense delivered in television crime drama format. This series reminds me of Without a Trace. If you remember that show you have a good idea of what to expect when you open the pages of this book. A tight-knit team with occasional humorous banter to break the tension. The inner workings of a time-sensitive missing persons case. And so many clues and suspects to sort through! Harris takes us along on Nikki's investigation and it's a mesmerizing journey.

But this isn't all business -- her romance with a long time friend is heating up. (If you read Vendetta, you'll remember Tyler. Sigh.) But taking that uncertain leap from friendship to romance is terrifying and Harris captures Nikki's inner turmoil as she wrestles with a myriad of emotions. Tyler and Nikki share a special bond and the tenderness and longing between them is so fragile and sweet and utterly swoonworthy. But complicated. The kind of romantical angst sure to stir a reader's sensitive emotions.

And there is also a secondary suspense thread that carries through each book in the series as she continues to search for her sister who went missing a decade earlier. So, yes, this is book two in The Nikki Boyd Files series but the author does a great job of catching readers up to speed so you could read it as a standalone. But Vendetta is really, really, really good so I recommend reading it too!

Intense. Nail-biting. A real page-turner that is sure to enthrall the discerning romantic suspense aficionado.
