I ordered 3 copies of Billy Grahams latest book, Nearing Home - one for myself and two as gifts. I am halfway through reading my copy and am glad I gave the 2 as gifts. It's easy reading but with the wisdom that only Mr. Graham can impart in such a simple manner, without being preachy. Straight from the heart of one who has walked with the Lord longer than most of us, he shares what it is like to get older and not be able to do all that we want to, but he is the ultimate encourager to stand strong... It's an excellent book! I Highly recommend it.
As a Christian, also living in my final quarter century, this was something I have been wrestling with. At 80 years, is my life essentially downsized in all respects, or can it be UPsized for Christ? It has been very heartwarming to read Rev. Graham's personal account of how he has been dealing with the same issues. Age is a great equalizer, and it was a surprise to find very human emotions in a man who has been such a role model for us all. Throughout my reading, I have had the warm sensation of sitting at this blessed Christian's side as he shared the gems of life with me personally.
This book is a wonderful tool to those of us who are retired or close to retirement. It is encouraging, honest and very comforting to read about someone who has gone before us in our maturing years. We are blessed to have Billy Graham share with us his experiences and stories that we can relate to, and also learn new things to think about and treasure before we go home.
