It features a Green List which shares ideas for going green in an A-to-Z listing followed by chapter related topics. Nature Girl is both educational and fun! It is crammed full of both indoor and outdoor activities, crafts, games, fun facts, science experiments, recipes, quizzes and so much more. There are ten chapters and included in each are various Bible scriptures(NIV), quotes from tween girls, interviews and more.
As a home-school parent, I want my children to develop a respect and appreciation for all of God's creation. (Genesis 1:31) I selected Nature Girl to review because I am in agreement that we must teach our children to love and respect our world. I plan on including Nature Girl: A Guide to Caring for God's Creation as as part of our supplemental home-school science curriculum. My youngest daughter loves cooking, crafts and the outdoors. What a wonderful way to teach her about conservation, environmental issues and most importantly becoming better stewards for God's creation! I think they should create a Nature Boy, too.
I got a copy through Booklook Bloggers.
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMJuly 29, 2014FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you have a tween girl that loves nature and all things green then this is the book for her! She will be thrilled with all of the interactive elements to this book. It has a bit of everything to interest and nurture her love of the beautiful creation that God has allowed us to live in.
Nature Girl has interesting information from leading professionals in different fields of science. The commentary is in conjunction with Scripture so it has a nice balance of reminding us that we are to enjoy and take care of the creation. But our worship is for the Creator alone.
This is a very hands on book that expects the reader to experiment and create with all aspects of the world around us. There are very interesting quizzes that are included that help solidify the facts that have been presented within the chapter. The experiments are great skill builders that will help your girl in her biology studies. The crafts are an absolute bonus! I think your daughter will have fun doing several of the projects with her girlfriends.
This really is a fun book that I think you will enjoy going through with your daughter. In fact I think it would make a great book to go through as a family, just hide the title from your boys!
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
FarmeretteCincinnati, OhAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great book for any tween girl!July 13, 2014FarmeretteCincinnati, OhAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Nature Girl: A Guide to Caring for God's Creation was written by Kim Whiting and and her daughter, Rebecca White. The book is recommended for ages 9-12 however, I feel would be good for any young girl who is looking to go green and take care God's creation. This chapter book is jammed pack with information, activities like How to Purify Water , recipes like Zesty Citrus Spritz, and quizzes, like the Trash To Treasure Match Up . Each chapter covers a different topic, like "Power Up", caring for God's Critters and "Real Girls reduce, reuse and recycle".
The book opens up almost immediately with the reader focusing on themselves and their inner beauty! What a great model for young girls. The book explains that you can be a glamorous girl and a nature girl and talks about everyone's secret weapon, self confidence! I love that fact that this is brought to the attention of the reader in the beginning of the book. The writers emphasize how God made you exactly how he wanted you to be. I love this! We were all made in his image and to look and be like he wanted us to be.. This can never be stated too much when you are talking about a tween girl! I feel this book is a great read for any tween!
