I love this movie and watch it every year or more. I purchased this extra one for Christmas gift exchange at church.

Our family has been watching The Nativity every Christmas season for four years now. My kids start asking about it whwn our Christmas decorations go up.

The only part that I find inaccurate is when the wisemen arrive and the message to leave for Egypt comes. But the spirit of the real story is there still so it's easy to overlook the cinematic take on the birth of Christ to just see that the main message is still that God's greatest gift to us was given through His son Jesus.

If you enjoyed Star Wars 7 and the tie-fighter pilot, or the Coen brothers' 60's folk music scene Inside Llewin Davis, you might be pleasantly surprised to find Oscar Isaac in a lead role here. With a quietly contemplative, honorable personality, Joseph is portrayed well, as is the very real rejection Mary would have experienced within her immediate society under Mosaic law. Ciaran Hinds, who portays King Herod has been in not a few BBC literary classic adaptations such as Jane Eyre (1997), Harry Potter, and Frozen, subtly captures the evil of the insecure monarch's lust for power brilliantly. Although it may be inconsequential to the plot, I really enjoyed Mary's family-made herb covered cheese as authentic production value (Solomon Rabinovich would be proud). I hope to include some scenes as future inspiration for a culturally authentic display of Christ's birth amid our Christmas front yard display. The aging shepherd who warms Mary on the eve of the Messiah's birth is priceless. What would you offer our Savior?
