KT5 Stars Out Of 5Well doneJanuary 12, 2017KTQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This rendition doesn't always portray the events exactly as scripture describes. For example, there is not a host of angels appearing to the shepherds. There are 3 wise men who visit on the night of the birth, but the bible doesn't say how many men came and does say that they visited Mary and Jesus at a house. These are the types of misrepresentations, but overall the film is very well done and beautiful. It does direct our attention to the Lord and illustrates the Word in a memorable way. I recommend it for ages 8 and up, but perhaps older for sensitive ones. The Romans are violent.
Cari5 Stars Out Of 5The Nativity StoryDecember 27, 2016CariQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am saddened to see any (very little, but some) negative reviews about this movie. I do know the Bible, and the so called "liberties" taken with this movie are not at all offensive! It doesn't mention in the Bible that Mary was opposed to marrying Joseph, but it also doesn't say she wasn't. Mary honored her parents. She wasn't mouthy, she just wanted to understand. She IS human! Much of how the Bible tells us to live is portrayed in this movie, as in Mary praying for strength, for honoring her husband, for seeing the good. I simply can't say enough about this movie because any liberty taken by the writers were only glorifying to God. It's like you could put yourself in the story with all the real emotions. God IS real, thus the incarnation. He experienced real emotions. We need to try to imagine what others felt then, too. I simply can't say enough GOOD about this. My kids (ages 5 & 8) asked so many questions about honor, jealousy, love, and cultural times. They got the message of God's goodness, provision, and protection, in a way they could relate to. It becomes very clear why God would have chosen both Mary and Joseph for this. It really portrays how deep each of their characters were. It is a magnificent LOVE story, between them, and between our God and us!
Mom5 Stars Out Of 5The Nativity StoryDecember 5, 2016MomQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I recommend this movie to everyone. God never promised Joseph and Mary they would have an easy life, and they didn't, they faced many hardships before and after Jesus birth.
