I was excited to receive this Bible with larger print, but had to return it because of what some call "ghosting." What I mean by that is the print showing through from the opposite side of the page made it too hard to read. CDC made the return process easy, but I was disappointed that I had to make the return.

I was apprehensive after having ordered it because of the negative comments about the paper quality. I got it yesterday and it was not as bad as some have said. Yes there is ghosting and the paper is rather thin - but on the plus side the Bible is now more portable and less bulky. I think that it would be best NOT to mark in this Bible. IF you feel you must mark in this Bible then I suggest that you use colored pencils and not your standard Highlighters because highlighter ink will go right through the page and possibly onto the next page as well.

All in all it is a nice bible for 30 bucks. The Leathertex was of a quality that is much better than your standard Bonded Leather bible covers. I don't think spending the extra 20 bucks for the Genuine Leather will give you any more benefit. If the paper quality was better then I would advise getting Genuine Leather - however I think you will find the Leathertex of sufficient quality.

Binding was sewn in as advertised. It opens nicely and if you take care of this Bible it should give you years of service.

They type size was VERY easy to read - and I use Bifocals. They Print is dark enough and easy to read. However this is NOT a Red Letter Edition - be warned if you are into that. I never really cared for Red Letter Bibles but to each his/her own.

To sum it all up - for $30 this is a good product to have. Peace

This Bible is probably as close to perfect as you can get. It combines all the best features of the many Bibles I have used, and I have owned many, many Bibles (this includes the "high end" calfskin Bibles.) Let me first start by saying that the New American Standard Bible is held by most theologians and scholars (that I know of) to be the most accurate Bible translation in the English language, which I would agree with because it translates Greek tenses (you should read the intros to your Bibles, it will tell you this stuff.) The print is all black, easy to read, and large. Also, the text is not "cramped" in that it is a single-column Bible. I need large print, and this delivers a very comfortable and cozy read. This Bible has 95,000 cross references as well as translation notes. All of these are not in the text. Instead, they are moved to the side of the page so that those of us who read our Bibles every day yet also like to study it in-depth can have all the cross-references yet also the uninterrupted text to read. Moving on, outside of the cross references, there is a 1 inch margin for notes, which I adore. If you are someone who does not write in their Bible, please do not shrug this feature off. I also do not take many notes (a few here and there maybe) but even then, just the very presence of the margins makes the text very readable and gives some breathing room to the whole Bible. Also, this Bible includes book introductions in the back (which I like but do not necessarily prefer) and (FINALLY!) a dictionary in the back as well. The dictionary is built into the concordance, so when each word is listed it gives a brief definition. This has come in handy for me. Now, for the downsides. Most notably, the paper is quite thin. Secondly, the cross-references do not always match up with the verse. For example, if you are reading along and see a number indicating a translation note for verse 3, you naturally want to look right next to the actual verse. However, often times the references for each verse are out of place. For example, right next to verse 3 there might be a note for verse 6, and next to verse 4 the notes for 7 will be, and so on. I believe this is because they have so many (and I mean LOTS AND LOTS) of cross references. Finally, I have a complaint about the cover. Although it is gorgeous, it bends kind of easily and mine arrived slightly damaged. Other than that, I recommend this Bible more than any other Bible I've ever had (maybe 15 or so). This Bible has become my favorite and I rarely use any other Bibles at all now. This is really a keeper!

The NASB side-column, wide margin in LEATHERTEX (Lockman Foundation) is better, in my humble opinion, than the leather ones, of which I've had 2 previous ones of different prices and quality. No smell issues on inside the flaps, and the leathertex is of superior quality to boot. The pages/paper is the exact same as the more costly ones. The 10 point text is perfect for my old eyes, not much ghosting, and the references are appropriate. Bare in mind that the pages are thin and easy to crinkle or rip, if not is not cognizant of being careful (as I dare say, I haven't always been). NASB is my favorite version because of it's firm adherence to scholarly interpretation. It has good size, but is comfortable to manage. The pages don't stick as they did in one of my previous leather ones. Bear in mind that my excellent rating review is related to product value. Buying for less doesn't always mean buying cheap. Excellent value for the price. I'm sixty-nine and wouldn't want to mislead you. I wonder why it's so important for some to have the most expensive bible they can find...it certainly wouldn't make a difference to God when their soul is examined. I pray for blessings for all Christians, in all circumstances and the good people that work for Christianbook too. What a wonderful site!
