I have had this study Bible for a couple of weeks now. I really appreciate its conservative layout. I have several study Bibles with various blueprints, but the verse by verse format with center column reference and study notes at the bottom will always be my favorite. The print for the Scripture and the notes are easy to read to me (I am 23) but I could see more seasoned Christians having an issue as there is some ghosting and the print is not very bold, which I actually prefer. It is dark and clear, just not bold and fat. Now to the issue at hand: the study notes. Thus far, I have really enjoyed the notes. They are more informative than persuasive. There is some really good information in them, but they stem from the widely known and accepted beliefs about the particular passage rather than try to convince the reader to believe something no one has ever heard of before. I notice that on controversial passages of Scripture the notes will simply lay out the different (most popular) beliefs from an Evangelical or Protestant standpoint, and that is it. This Bible does what a study Bible is supposed to do: inform you of things you may not have previously known about a given text, give context to the passage (maps, timelines, notes on the culture, historical and archeological evidence, etc.) and explain different viewpoints about certain topics throughout Scripture without attempting to persuade the reader to one view or the other (at least without contextual evidence). So, if you are looking for a Bible to tell you what to think, this one is not for you. I gave it 4 stars simply because of the binding. Genuine leather is no longer available (at time of review), but even if it was, I do not know the method they used to bind it. Some say glued, other say sewn. Nevertheless, it is cheap, and as I said, I have only had it for a few weeks and some of the pages are becoming obvious where they were put it together (with glue, I think). And I treat Bibles very well (put them in a case, dont bend them backwards, etc.). Otherwise, it is a great study Bible!

    Worthless study notes and commentary

The quality is not good. There are wrinkles in most of the pages. There is ghosting. The study notes are more than actual bible verses. The notes are so superfluous that they take up more room on the pages than the bible verses. The chapters are broken up so that half of a sentence is on one page and you have to flip the page to finish the sentence. It is like this all over this bible.

The notes are worthless and provide no added benefit to your study. Many times a note will say, "see previous note." And when you follow it back several times you finally end up with only a cross reference. Absolutely ridiculous. If you are a serious student of the bible you will waste your time and money with this bible.

Do not purchase if you believe in the apostle's teachings of the doctrines of grace because the authors of the study notes have twisted the meanings of the verses that support them. I cannot stress how worthless the commentary and notes are in this bible. I wholeheartedly regret purchasing this bible and will donate it.

This is the best word-for-word translation that exists. The study portion is from the NIV. They work very well together. It has the right amount of maps, timelines, and much more all at the right size to carry.

This is a great bible study bible. The NASB is a best word-for-word bible from the Greek. The cross reference to other scripture, allows you to follow through to other like scripture with ease. The chart and tables provided easy and help make bible study easier to get through. For example, I had to do work they the offerings in the Old Testament. There was a table there provided a clear understanding of all the Old Testament offerings. The study notes are amazing. They further enhance your understanding of the text. Giving clear precise information as to what is going on is an NIV understanding. My bible study group uses this bible because we dive into the full meal of the text to answer the questions.
