I'm rather surprised at some of the reviews I've read; 'Shallow' is the word that comes to mind. I thought that the point of 'The Word' was just that...reading the word...no matter what the outside wrapping is, it's what is inside that matters! I bought the hard back with red wording & finger index. Let me say that I am well pleased with this bible! To those that seem to think that they need a "leather look" to their bibles and then are not happy with their purchase...maybe you should just go with the hardback & order a bible cover that suits your taste. That's what I did. But please remember, it is the word of God that you are purchasing that matters, not the cover. After all...the early church didn't even have the written word, it was spoken. Corrie Ten Boom had just a few scriptures written on scraps of paper while she languished in a Nazi concentration camp....so lets be thankful for the whole written word of God copies that we have shall we? Excellent Study Bible! This is a fantastic Study Bible and contains some excellent features. This edition has 20% fewer pages which makes for a thinner Bible but also makes for a bit more ghosting but it is not enough to deter me from using this Bible. The margins are wide enough for note taking.

It has a glued spine which means at some point the pages may begin to come loose after time but it lays perfectly flat for being a glued spine. Overall I was very impressed with the features of this Study Bible and I find it to be an excellent resource. There are some great video reviews of this Bible as well. I would recommend this edition to anyone looking for a good NASB Study Bible.

I received a copy from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I would say the same exact things had I purchased this edition. In fact I went ahead and purchased one in an imitation leather ESV because I liked it so much. The only thing I would change is to have a sewn binding and a ribbon marker.

Ryrie study bible's have changed over the past couple of years in their look and design. While I prefered the older layout, this new bible is still a good quality bible. I have the genuine leather one and I felt it was good quality all around. Most bibles today are made in leather imitations and genuine leather and even finer leather covers are harder to come by these days unless you go with a Allan bible or one like them and then your paying several hundreds of dollars. As with any bible, it's all in how you take care of it. I have a bonded leather NIV from 1994 and it's still in great shape. I use it, but take care of it. So this leather Ryrie bible will last a long time with good care. For some reason people abuse their bibles and there is a belief the rougher looking your bible is the better christian you are. That dont make sense to me, but to each their own. The NAS translation is my preferred translation along with the NLT. I use both but when I preach or teach, I use the NLT. Anyways, this Ryrie NASB is a good quality bible and at a good price. $50.00 isnt a lot of money for something you'll have a long time ( a dinner at Applebees for 2 people will cost that). It's a good price and good bible. You wont go wrong on this bible all around. I dont always refer to the notes as sometimes the authors theology comes through and thats fine and offers good thoughts, but isnt the final understanding on scripture. The notes are good here, but I do disagree sometimes but thats ok too. I still rate this bible high marks.

Over 30 years of ministry i continue to use and recomend this study Bible version. Charles Ryrie who passed away in early 2016 has authored many very helpful books on doctrine, theology, commentary on The Bible, and also had a well respected teaching ministry at Philadelphia College of Bible, (now Cairn University), and Dallas Theological Seminary. For me his seminal work is the Ryrie Study Bible. One of my Bible school prof.'s and early ministry mentors turned me towards using this for study and teaching purposes. The NASB is the most literal translation to the original languages. This version combined with Dr. Ryrie's extensive scholarship in the attached, (not inspired), notes makes this Bible highly recommended from me to others. I wish it would be republished in the NKJV, as it once was. It is also available in the KJV and ESV. This study Bible will be more than helpful to your daily reading and studies.

This was an expensive purchase for me. The Bible was beautiful and has all the features I wanted. However, when it arrived my embossed name was spelled wrong. Normally I would have just lived with it, but this will probably be the last Bible purchase I will make for myself and I plan to leave it to my children. I called and explained the problem. There was not a moment of questioning. The young lady appologized and said a replacement would be ordered immediately. The corrected Bible arrived within a few days and I was able to return the first Bible without charge. A great experience!
