A3 Stars Out Of 5Filled with Catholic ContentSeptember 13, 2017AQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 1This book is not written entirely from a "Christian perspective" as the product description states. If you decide to purchase this book please go over each lesson before reading it to your children. We are on lesson 11 in this book and so far we have come across 2 lessons of "catholic teachings" that were portrayed as "christian teachings" . If you know anything about the true early catholics they persecuted Christians for their faith in Jesus Christ. Catholic and christianity are not the same thing. Catholicism misses the boat when it comes to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins though Christ alone by believing on him. You cannot intertwine these two beliefs as one. The product value in my opinion is well priced for all of the content that you receive in the book. We did purchase the CD of extras to go with the lessons so that my children have a hands on approach. I will still use this book for this year as long as I go through the content beforehand so that I ensure my children aren't taught in something that we do not believe in. Next year and the years to follow I will not be using this curriculum.
Homeschool-dad3 Stars Out Of 5Print qualityAugust 1, 2017Homeschool-dadQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This might be mentioned but the product description needs to clearly state that these are workbooks (at least the first two volumes we've tried). By the end of the year, the spine is falling apart and the perforated pages start to tear. This is a workbook. Not a text. They're two very different things. The idea that they pitch this being a text you can come back to for three cycles is pretty humorous. I doubt most families can make it through two cycles without replacing it. A bit disappointing because we love the content.
Kaley5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome History CurriculumJanuary 8, 2017KaleyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am an 8th grade home-school student, my favorite subject is History. I absolutely love the "Mystery of History"! I retain the names and dates of events. The tests, quizzes, and pretests are extremely thorough. I believe the "Middle students" activities should be based on grades 4-6th, because they are a little easy for the age suggestion (6th-8th grade). Sincerely, Kaley
anonymous5 Stars Out Of 5Can't wait to get into this bookFebruary 19, 2016anonymousQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We have done Mystery of History 1 and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! My daughter, 3rd grade, can't wait to open it. Though we took longer than a year to go through the first one, she KNOWS all about the people throughout the whole book. It has been an amazing set up in learning about the Bible and the World as time went on, and for her to actually grasp and remember it...as a 2nd and 3rd grader.....has been awesome to watch!!!! MY knowledge has increased so much and the Bible makes sooo much more sense now. Highly recommend the first volume and am sure hoping this 2nd is as good! Will write a review again after going through it.
