This is a story of dreaming big and working hard, of spectacular success and breathtaking failure, of shouted questions, and, at long last, whispered answers. With trademark wit and heart, Phil Vischer shares how God can use the death of a dream to point us toward true success.
Larry. Bob. Archibald. These VeggieTales stars are the most famous vegetables you'll ever eat. Oops, meet. Their antics are known around the world. But so much of the VeggieTales story hasn't been told. In Me, Myself, and Bob, Phil Vischer, founder of Big Idea and creator of VeggieTales, gives a behind-the-scenes look at his not-so-funny journey with the loveable veggies. From famed creator to bankrupt dreamer, Vischer shares his story of trial and ultimate triumph as God inspired him with one big idea after another.
Phil Vischer is the CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Big Idea Productions. As co-creator of the popular series, VeggieTales™, he has also served as writer, director and voice for more than a dozen characters, including Bob the Tomato. Since the release of the first VeggieTales™ episode in 1993, more than 30 million units have been sold in the series. Vischer and his wife, Lisa, live in the Chicago, IL with their 3 children.
Me, Myself & Bob is an interestingyet somewhat improbable even while remaining believableautobiography. The average, middle-class Christian will identify with the pitfalls, problems, mess-ups, and godly rescues that appear on these pages. Those readers who have found themselves not quite in step with the common drummer will be happy to meet another out-of-stepper. Everyone will enjoy the humor. The account of bankruptcy proceedings capably catches the frailty of average people, and their relief as they find they can trust God. Vischer describes himself as a Bible college dropout looking for his father and longing to make an impact. In his closing chapters, Vischer shares this insight, Let it go. Give it up. Let it die. Let Christ shred your dragon skin and lead you into a whole new life (p. 251). Read this book for fun, read it to learn more about living the daily Christian life, but most of all read it to see how one man is getting rid of his dragon skin. Jocelyn Green, author of Faith DeployedCedar Falls, IAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Transparent and RefreshingJuly 22, 2016Jocelyn Green, author of Faith DeployedCedar Falls, IAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I enjoyed this book immensely. If you've seen any of Phil's work, you can guess that his wit and humor are laced throughout his tale, even though there were some very painful episodes during the rise and fall of Big Idea Productions. I skimmed several paragraphs in the early chapters describing the technical aspects of computer animation, but the book still read smoothly for that. The lessons he shares at the end of the book are so powerful for anyone, but I found them especially relevant as an author.
One of my favorite quotes: "God has taught me to focus not on results, but on obedience. Not on the destination, but on the journey."
Another one: "Beware of your dreams, for dreams make dangerous friends. . . Dreams are, I believe, misplaced longings. False lovers. Why? Because God is enough."

If you want to serve Jesus this book is for you. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself." Learn from Phil Vischer's mistakes and what he learned.

The young man (college student) that I purchased it for quickly read the book from cover to cover. The book had a profound impact on him, and I can't wait to read it next. Phil's story was so inspirational and encouraging that the young man emailed Phil to tell him how it encouraged him, and Phil even wrote back!
