teddy1 Stars Out Of 5about the iBibleJanuary 9, 2020teddyQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I bought the NASB because it is the most literal translation and I wanted to absorb the Holy Scriptures into my mind and heart. However, the way Steven Johnson reads it is a nauseating distraction. His inflection and intonation is not just overdone, it is often contradictory to common sense. Instead of complaining, I decided to buy the other most literal modern translation (NKJV) but when I saw that it was also read by Steven Johnson I was distraught! The machine is an incredible invention and I am sure Mr. Johnson is oblivious to the way he butchers the Bible. He can be excused. It is the people who hired him and market him that are guilty of the greater sin.
suthern5 Stars Out Of 5very satisfiedDecember 6, 2019suthernQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In reading other reviews Mr. Johnson has been criticised for his narratrion but I think he flows just fine. If anyone can read the Bible out loud without inflection or emotion they probably aren't christian.
The device itself is awesome and I just bought another for a friend's Christmas gift.
Andy3 Stars Out Of 5my-iBible NASBOctober 18, 2018AndyI really like the IBible device itself. A single charge remains for me for days. What I do not prefer is the voice reading of Stephen Johnston. His reading is high-low pitch within even a single word, which I have not yet been able to get use to. It is not like a normal voice, but a drama type voice. I like my bible app voice on my iphone, but the advantage of the ibible is that it does not drain the battery on my phone. So if you can handle the drama voice, you will like this.
Eva P. Scott5 Stars Out Of 5Great for Listening on the Go or at HomeApril 13, 2018Eva P. ScottQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have several different audio Bibles read by Stephen Johnston. He is an excellent reader. I use my player in the car without the headphones. My car is an older model car (1998) and the only thing that works in it audio wise is the radio.
The device is small enough that I can prop it up in my cigarette ashtray (I don't smoke) and can hear it as I'm driving. I use it with the headphones when I'm doing sewing projects in the house.
I like that I can use it just for listening to the Bible without worrying about having lots of things I don't need on it. Also, it is easier to navigate than when I used another digital Bible I have on my phone.
It is an excellent little device and small enough to put in your pocket or purse without being too heavy.
Christy4 Stars Out Of 5The Word on hand 24/7!December 6, 2015ChristyQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is an excellent way to be absorbing and retaining the Word throughout the busy day! I listen when I'm in my car, when I'm at the gym, when I'm cleaning house, etc. There is no better way to have the Word constantly in your ears. It is also a great way to pick up on things about the Word that you might sometimes accidentally miss when you read it. The only issue I have with it is that on the "s" sounds, the recording quality seems to drop and it can be a little disconcerting (confusing) at first, but as you listen, you get used to it and it's not so bad. I took some points off for that because at $50, I would expect the audio quality to be either nearly or completely flawless. I still recommend it to anyone, however.
