You know, like one of those western movies made in the 70s with beautiful characters, lots of action and comedy thrown in. A bit cheesy, but a really good story very entertaining!

This is book two in the series however the good news is that you can read this story apart from the other two and it will be okay. However I do recommend that you read the other two just for the sheer enjoyment of them. Three sisters, who are con artists, are finally arrested and in a prison wagon dressed as nuns when the wagon is attacked by Indians. At the sound of the attack three men gallop to the rescue and each man takes a different sister. This time the focus is on Anne-Marie. Seems her rescuer, Creed, is the strong silent type. When they do go to a town they are imprisoned and sentenced to be hung at dawn. They do escape but with the gold. There is adventure after adventure that will keep you flipping pages trying to find out what happens next and why. Historical fiction that takes place during The Civil War. And did I mention that this is a romance? I enjoyed this book a lot and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Christian BookReview BlogGender: female3 Stars Out Of 5A Fun and Light Read . . .June 1, 2015Christian BookReview BlogGender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3My eyes latched unto the words "Crow warrior" and I knew I wanted to read this book. Having a Native American as the Hero is a uniquely different approach used sparingly in Christian fiction.
My Heart Stood Still is a fast-paced story with major plot events occurring every few chaptersthere's little time to catch your breath. Anne-Marie is a stubborn, I-can-do-everything heroine. Creed is a mysterious hero with secrets to hide. And Quincy, Creed's African-American best friend, is a sweet and humorous side-kick. These characters comprise an interesting team and it was fun following their wild quest to return Anne-Marie safely home while trying to deliver a cache of stolen gold to the American authorities.
Although this story was a fun and light read, Anne-Marie could be annoying at times with her tendency to rebel and her I-can-do-everything attitude. I enjoy realistic stories with deep spiritual truths woven throughout and My Heart Stood Still depicted events that were, at times, unrealistic and silly. In addition, Cortes is a very cliche Hispanic villain. As an aside, because Anne-Marie and Creed were instructed by nuns and a catholic priest respectively, the spiritual themes have a slant towards Catholic doctrine.
I did enjoy, however, the detailed and well-written prose. The setting came to life and I could easily picture the surroundings in my mind. The romantic thread kept me in the shadows until the end and Anne-Marie's decision to renounce deceptioneven if its use was for a good causeconstituted great progress in her spiritual journey.
While My Heart Stood Still is not my favorite story, it is a fun, light read about a con-artist falling in love with a Native American and the challenges they face along the waywhich just might be the kind of story you're looking for. I give My Heart Stood Still three out of five stars.
Maria3 Stars Out Of 5Too predictable and unbelievableApril 18, 2015MariaQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0My Heart Stood Still is the sequel to the Sisters of Mercy Flats by Lori Copeland. These books are simple, fun, and easy reading for the beach or whenever you want something without much depth. Personally, I prefer more realistic stories so this really wasn't my cup of tea. But if you like light reading, you will probably like these books. :-)
Anne-Marie is grateful to be rescued from the Comanches, but she isn't sure if she can trust her stoic rescuer, Creed, who is also an Indian. Especially since he is very quick to dump her off somewhere to try to find her way back home. But when she accidentally ends up causing even more harm to Creed than he did to her, she decides to hang with him longer. Realizing that she's falling in love with him, she wonders if Creed could ever want to marry her. And what about her sisters? They were probably worried sick...
This story was very predictable and unbelievably silly. There were some good parts, but for me all the other aspects kind of drowned out the few good spots. But like I said before, it's a fun, easy reading story and if that's what you are looking for then this may be the book for you. If not, you should probably look up another book.
I was given this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
