Fitzysmom4 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMMarch 6, 2017FitzysmomQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I think a universal fear of every mother is that something will happen to them while their children are young and they will be left to grow without her. I know it was an underlying fear of mine and that of my friends. In My Heart Julie Manning finds herself facing that scenario head on.
For all intents and purposes Julie's life had been relatively normal. She married the love of her life, she had a very fulfilling career, and they had a darling boy and were soon expecting a second one. Then out of left field an unknown heart condition appears.
I will admit that for the first half of this book I was in desperate need of Kleenex. Julie's story is gut-wrenching. All of those mommy fears came true. Second opinions didn't give different answers. Begging and pleading to God didn't change the circumstances. But what slowly began to emerge was beautiful. In the midst of such brokenness, healing was found. Her heart was still broken but her soul had found rest.
Julie's journey is one that we are all on. We may not have a life-threatening physical condition, but we all have broken hearts that need healing. I enjoyed Julie's willingness to let us look in on her private struggle. She allows herself to be vulnerable in order that you and I will see how Jesus broke through all the changes and became the unmovable and unchanging force in her life. You can't help but be inspired by her words and encouraged to take similar actions in your own life.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
Jessica5 Stars Out Of 5encouraging, challenging, and convictingFebruary 10, 2017JessicaQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I absolutely loved this book. Julie wrote with such honesty and so much encouragement. Her words were kind and true, and everything she went through is such a testament to how good God is and how His ways are truly higher than ours.
Cathy Bates5 Stars Out Of 5My Heart: Every Beat Surrendered to Our Unchanging GodFebruary 6, 2017Cathy BatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5From the very first page to the very last page, Julie shares not only her story but her faith. Interwoven through every single page you see Jesus' light shining through. Julie shares her story in a way that makes you feel like you have known her all of your life, that she is one of your oldest and dearest friends. :) She let's you in on some of the darkest times of her story and some of the most beautiful also and all the while praising God for who He is in her life and what He has brought her through. I was challenged in my faith by Julie, to live each moment to the fullest and in response to God and His call on my life. I want to live as Julie has lived and is now living, shining the light of Jesus to this world in everything she says and does. I praise God for allowing me the privilege of being on this launch team. This book has changed my life. :)
Kathleen5 Stars Out Of 5My Heart: Every beat surrendered to our unchanging GodFebruary 3, 2017KathleenQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Julie Manning weaves an emotional picture of the very real feelings she experienced after being
diagnosed with heart failure as a mother of two very young children. My Heart challenges us to
fully rely on our faith even though the odds are against us. Interwoven throughout the book are
heartfelt letters she writes to her boys telling them how dearly they are loved and she begs them
to always put God first in their lives despite the obstacles that may come their way, including
possibly losing their mother. Bring a box of tissue with you when beginning this book, but know
that youll be heading back for your Bible before the book ends.
