The authors did a great job of weaving together both stories that
solve a mystery.
I did not realize that My Daughter's Legacy was book 3 in the Cousins Of The Dove series.
The book begins in the present day with Nicole and then a few chapters in we are taken back to 1864 and Teresa.
My Daughter's Legacy isn't just about Cousins and relations
as the title of the series leads you to believe.
It is about Women of Fearless Devotion to God and Country and Family.
The reader follows the family through their trials and triumphs.
Although I have not read books 1 and 2 I know I would enjoy reading both.
Even if your not a fan of Historical Romance or Suspense. Or of
Contemporary Romance and Suspense take a plunge and this series a try!
The set would make a great Christmas gift!
I received a complimentary copy from Litfuse.

Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould
The team of Clark and Gould have pulled out another amazing story of courage and love in the Cousins of the Dove series. I absolutely loved this entire series; the other two books are My Brother's Keeper and My Sister's Prayer. The stories all take place between the past and the present, intertwining the two in an unforgettable way. In the first story, we learn about four cousins and how they stumble upon a dead body in a cabin on their grandparent's property when they are very young. They race to get help from the adults, only to find the body gone when they return. Each of them deals with the emotional upheaval in their own way. Most unfortunately, for Nicole Talbot, the protagonist in this story, the way is drugs. In the previous books she was an addict and in a serious car accident that almost took her life. During this final book, she has been through therapy and rehab and is on the road to a healthy lifestyle. She has one secret though, that she has carried with her for all these years, ever since that day in the forest at the cabin. When she reveals it, what will her family say? How will they react? And how will it affect them and the investigation into the murder that took place all those years ago?
During this story, we also learn about Therese Jennings, a young woman during the Civil War and a direct descendant of all the Talbot girls. When her father dies and her mother inherits her grandfather's farm, Therese must decide what is best for her. Her father believed firmly that slavery was immoral and evil and she agrees with him. However, the farm her mother inherits is run by slaves. When her mother refuses to set them free, Therese flees to Richmond, Virginia. There, she works as a governess by day and volunteers at a hospital by night. Even though she is in the heart of Confederate country, she desperately wants the South to lose the war and all the slaves to be set free. Can she use her position to help bring the war to an end? Will she have the courage to follow her heart and do what she knows is right?
Nicole learns Therese's story throughout the book and draws strength from the courage that Therese showed. As both ladies learn to stand strong in the face of doing what is right, they come to find what happiness really does mean. Take all the excitement and throw in an old manuscript, a decades old mystery, and a family reunion and you have the makings of an exciting, page-turning novel. Although the book does offer resolutions at the end, I could gladly continue reading about the girls and the lives they build for themselves. Any lover of historical fiction will want to pick up this book. Just make sure that you have time to read it without putting it down!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. All of the opinions are my own.
MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Compelling tale of past and presentAugust 25, 2017MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This conclusion to the Cousins of the Dove series astounded me with so many different pieces woven together in the various story lines to form a satisfying, cohesive whole, not only of the third book but the entire trilogy. I enjoyed both the present-day developments, with the mystery and witnessing the characters grow, and the family history portion set during the Civil War. The skill of the authors to pull off such a fete showcases their amazing writing ability. The only part that didn't quite resonate was the quick resolution of Nicole's relationship with her boss, but it's how readers would want it to conclude. I felt like I was experiencing the situations along with the various persons peopling this dramatic novel. I hope the two writers partner for more books with such depth and authenticity. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
Booklover105 Stars Out Of 5a book that you won't want to put downAugust 7, 2017Booklover10Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I fell in love with this book from the opening page. As soon as the story began, I found myself not wanting to put it down. I was intrigued by how these authors could possibly bridge the gap between 1864 and present day. I spent the whole first chapter pretty much deciding it was impossible to do. However, by the second chapter I began to get a glimpse of how it would be accomplished.
I absolutely loved that the topic of substance abuse was brought up and talked about through the main character, Nicole. I liked her from the beginning. She was determined to win over this addiction. However, she has seen something that can't be unseen. She knows that she needs to tell the truth so she can be free from the whole situtation and promise that she made to someone. However, telling the truth means that she risks all that she is working to regain. But in telling the truth, she is also freeing other people who have found themselves struggling with the same things they had seen as a child.
Therese Jennings is one of those ladies that I liked from the start, too. Her beliefs are put to the test and she has a choice to make.
I was first drawn to this book because it was written by two authors that have been at the top of my list of authors. I have never read a book by them that wasn't one that I wanted to hurry up and end. I wasn't as drawn by the cover of the book, but definitely by the names on the book!
I was sad to see this series end, but I have high hopes that these two authors will continue to write another series together!
I received this book free from Harvest House Publishers and Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
