Tell us a little about yourself. I'm thrilled to be a published author.
In addition to my writng work, I am on the board
of directors of the DAMAH Film Festival. Please
check out our website at www.DAMAH.com. It's a
new wave in experimental short films that explore
spiritual themes in films. Very cool! there's
nothing like it. We'll be at Park City again
next year and in LA in Feb. 2005.
What was your motivation behind this project? I was alarmed when I started hearing talk show
radio personalities rant againt Muslims in
America. I wanted to help dispell some of the
fear and suspicion Americans were feeling toward
their Muslim neighbors, co-wokers and fellow
students on campus. I hope this book does this in
a way that makes North American Muslims appear
more approachable.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A love for Muslims.
They are some of the most hospitable,
warm-blooded people I know in the world.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My greatest influences have been my multicultural
family, my foster parents, mentors through the
ministry of Campus Crusade, travel to over 20
nations, my husband and children, reading the
classics and multicultural fiction, U2,
basketball, homeschooling and living in the
Middle East and Europe.

My favorite recent book of short stories is
Interpretor of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri.
