Publisher's Description

Mystery Awaits on the Mysterious Yorkshire Moors

At the urgent request of an old school friend, Drew and Madeline Farthering come to Bloodworth Park Lodge in the midst of the Yorkshire moors, a place as moody and mysterious as a Brontë hero. There have been several worrisome incidents out on the moor--property destroyed, fires started, sheep and cattle scattered--and worst of all, the vicar has been found dead on the steps of the church.

Drew's friend is obviously smitten with his bride of eight months, though it's hard to imagine what she sees in the awkward man. Drew can't help wondering if her affections lie more with the man's money and estate, while her romantic interests focus on their fiery Welsh gamekeeper. As the danger grows ever closer, it's up to Drew to look past his own prejudices, determine what is really going on, and find the killer before it's too late.

This review was written for Murder on the Moor.
Murder on the Moor is the fifth book in the Drew Farthering mystery series.

On a dark, stormy night, Drew and his wife Madeline receive a surprise visit from an old classmate Hubert Bloodworth aka Beaky, who asks them to come to his estate for the weekend to see if Drew can learn anything about the death of the local vicar who has been found dead on the very steps of his vicarage.

I was super excited that the author has chosen to continue the series and I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Drew, Madeline and their friend Nick Dennison each play a part in getting the mystery solved. I enjoyed watching them work together and how each brought their own perspective to the table.

This was an engaging well-written clean mystery with a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. This book could be read as a stand alone book, but I think it would benefit the reader to start at the beginning of the series.

I have been hooked on the Drew Farthering novels since I bought the first one a few years ago. There is just something about author Julianna Deering's suspenseful and dark, yet cozy and fun, mysteries that keeps me coming back and eagerly anticipating each new release.

Murder On The Moor more than lived up to its lovely cover and surpassed my high expectations. I did figure out part of the mystery, half of the killer's identity and a couple of other things, but believe you me, I was in for some real surprises! The final showdown was so exciting and who-done-it was a bit of a shocker!

I enjoyed every minute of reading Murder On The Moor, trying to guess who did what, figure out motivations, as well as the wonderful 1920's era British setting, and you just can't beat those quirky English place names like Bunting's Nest... Fans of this series and of Julianna Deering are in for a real mysterious and even spooky treat in the latest Drew Farthering Mystery.

(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

I enjoy nothing more than a good clean mystery. Ms. Deering certainly delivered! I cant wait to read more of her books this was my first! The married amateur detective duo of Drew and Madeline brought to mind the old classic movies of Nick and Nora, whose films were made in the 1930s, the same era as the books setting.

The couple is called to an old school chums estate in the English Moors to help him solve 2 murders that there could possibly be no motive; the vicar and a poor elderly woman. Also because his bride of less than a year has been hearing things and feels she is being followed

His friend Beaky Bloodworth would be what you would call a geek or a nerd during their school days, the victim of constant bullying. Not only has Beaky done quite well for himself but is married to an absolutely beautiful woman, so much so her reasons for marrying look suspicious. Not to mention her attitude toward her husband, Definitely not that of a gushing newlywed.

The authors descriptiveness of the characters, their personality and physical characteristics were so fantastic, I felt I had a snap shot of them in hand. Beakys name gave me a chuckle as it fit his thin, hawkish appearance. She beautifully captured the interactions between the individuals on all levels. I loved Drew and Madelines sweet and loving relationship. Not gushy but as a good, caring marriage would be. It didnt stop there she painted a word picture of the homes, stores, pub, and especially the moors. I found the latter quite depressing, and gloomy. A perfect location for solving a crime!

The book kept me on edge. Lots of surprises. Every time I thought I had the murderer cornered in my mind another person would appear equally as guilty! It wasnt until the very end the criminal is revealed and I wasnt right on any counts! What a surprise! Just the way I like a whodunit! A book you will want to read!

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I state are my own.

Mystery abounds in the Yorkshire moors in this 5th installment of Julianna Deering's Drew Farthering Mystery series. An old school friend of Drew's has requested his help with investigating some disturbing incidents that have been occurring on his property, not to mention the murder of the local vicar. As usual, the police are getting nowhere, so Drew and his wife, Madeline, agree to lend a hand.

With each passing day, the danger gets closer to home and Drew must discover who is responsible for the mysterious happenings and murders before it's too late.

I gave this book a 5 star rating because I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. It can be read as a stand-alone novel, but I recommend starting with Book 1 so you don't miss any of Drew's exciting adventures. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House and the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review. Can't wait to see where Drew's next adventure leads!

When Drew Farthering and his wife Madeleine receive an earnest request from one of Drew's former classmates, Hubert "Beaky" Bloodworth, to travel to Bloodworth Park Lodge, they are instantly on the scent of another murder in the normally placid community of Buntings Nest. This time the unfortunate chap was the local vicar, found by the milk man, face down on the front steps of his church.

As Drew and Madeleine begin to search for clues, their enigmatic hostess, Mrs. Hubert Bloodworth, raises many more questions than she answers. The estate's moor also houses a plethora of inhabitants, some of them quite surly, hiding their secrets in abandoned ruins and evening fogs; but when a second murder targets another unlikely victim, Drew ups his game plan to include some clever undercover investigative techniques. Battling dead-ends, and lover's trysts to find the truth, will time run out before the murderer hits much too close to home?

It's hard to imagine that a cozy mystery could be written any better than this one.
