nkwbookreviewer5 Stars Out Of 5This Cozy Mystery Makes a Winderful Book 3April 29, 2017nkwbookreviewerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Murder is No Accident" by author A.H. Gabhart is book three in the Hidden Springs Mystery series. This 339 page paperback is published by Revell and has an interesting crime scene cover, complete with the cat! Even though this is book three, it can be read as a stand alone.
I am drawn to author Gabhart's writing. Her style is flawless. The mixture of eccentric, normal, old, and young characters provides someone for everyone to relate to and giggle. The dialogue and colloquialisms used in the author's books are delightful. This one is no exception. Her characters are a vivid mix that pull readers into the small town. Their conversations flow effortlessly. The story was well planned, well defined, and well written.
In Book 3 we venture back to the small town of Hidden Springs, Kentucky to reunite with old friends and make new ones. Don't worry if you haven't been before because you won't be lost. This delightful town has had a bit of excitement already with a couple of deaths that required solving and this third book has sheriff's deputy Michael Keane with another mystery on his hands. Someone has been murdered in the old Chandler mansion. Everyone wants to help solve the case and peek inside the house to view the crime scene. The town is buzzing with who might be the murderer and if they're all safe, even the deputy.
A lot of current topics are touched on in this good read. The author tackles dementia, greed, safety of children, and gossiping. She discretely weaves inspirational messages in the story. For example gossiping being wrong, "Now I'm not one to gossip but....". Friends, family, faith, and serving in church are prevalent.
Gabhart is such an excellent author. With some twists and turns thrown in I changed my mind a few times on the guilty party. That makes a mystery book fun to read. I would recommend this to anyone that likes small town novels, clean Christian novels, and mysteries. Men and women alike will enjoy it. I rated it a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by the author for my review but this is my honest opinion.

The owner has been transferred to a senior care home and her executors son is trying to sell the house out from under her. The realtor had come to appraise the house and ran into someone unexpected there. What the surprise visitor doesnt know is that a local teen is hiding up in the tower room of the house when the accident happens and hears everything. The teen leaves the scene, but then receives an alarming telephone call. Michael has his suspicions about the accident, but has no proof that it was anything other than just thatan accident. This brings back memories for the owner of years ago when her sister died the same way in the same house. This has always been ruled an accident, but the owner claims she knows who killed her sister. Another body is soon found at the old house and this time there is no doubt that the person was murdered. Michael has his hands full investigating these crimes as well as helping with the local church youth group.
Michael also receives news that his aunts neighbor and good friend to all in the community has had a stroke. This is the local towns attorney whose niece just happens to be the love of Michaels life, but he hasnt told her that. Alexandria Sheridan arrives in town to help with the care of her uncle. She has loved Michael all her life, but hasnt been bold enough to let him know. Besides she is an attorney for a big law firm in Washington, D.C. and likes her life there. Michael has roots and likes his small-town life in Hidden Springs. Michael, however, decides he wants more than a long-distance telephone relationship with Alex and wants to move things to a new level. Can Michael solve the case and get the girl?
What a good mystery series! I like the direction the relationship between Michael and Alex is taking and cant wait to see where they stand in the next book! I just loved Miss Fonnie and the gentle way Michael treated her. He still respected her even though she didnt know what was going on in the present most of the time. I also liked the relationship between the teenagers Anthony and Maggie and how they both respected Maggies parents wishes in regards to dating. Anthony treated Maggie with respect. The pace of the story was a little slow in a couple of places, but I still would definitely recommend this book to readers.

Resentment is in their future. Alex began and stayed career focused , rather selfish. Michael was solid, despite baggage he's overcoming by serving others. Alex wants Michael - but on condition of giving up everything for her. That is NOT love. Michael blinded by love wants Alex on any condition - even the loss of everything. That is NOT love. Since book one I hoped for a new love-interest character for Michael. The best part of book three was Anthony and Maggie - and her family. .

"I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, MURDER IS NO ACCIDENT is the third book in Ms. Gabhart's Hidden Springs Mystery series. I hope there will be more. I dearly love Michael.
A house shrouded in mystery. Deaths ranging from the past to present. A congressman. An antique dealer. A murder writer. And a tower room where a young teen likes to daydream.
Is the past murder tied in with the present? Or are the deaths unfortunate accidents? When another man is found dead, questions are raised. And Michael doesn't have a clue. Just a romance that seems to be dying a slow, agonizing death.
I thought I had who-dun-it figured out. But then my suspect turned up dead. I couldn't sleep. I made a list of possible suspects, but couldn't quite put my finger on it...
You know a writer is good when a reader goes to that much work! I absolutely love this series.
If you like cozy mysteries, you'll want to read MURDER IS NO ACCIDENT. You can read it as a stand-alone, but you will want to read Murder on the Courthouse and Murder Comes by Mail.
