Tell us a little about yourself. I'm one of those authors who has been writing since childhood. I come from a long line of storytellers, and I published my first article at 17. Since then, I've published short stories, seven novels, three books of devotions, and contributed to several devotional collections. My day job is as the associate publisher for Iron Stream Media, and I've worked in Christian publishing for almost 40 years. I love working with other writers, and I recently received the Joann Sloan National Award for the Encouragement of Writing, a mentoring, editing, and coaching award presented by Vision Press at the Southern Christian Writers Conference.
What was your motivation behind this project? I had a relative who was a hoarder, and I've known several other people who are. This book started with a fascination on that, and, given my attraction for suspense books, it evolved into a story of murder, family, and what exactly it is that we leave behind.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A gentle understanding that no one is perfect, family relationships are hard but worth it, and there's always time for a U-turn in life.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Some of my favorite Christian authors are Lynette Eason, Terri Blackstock, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Richard Mabry. Mainstream influences include Sharyn McCrumb, Alex Marwood, Margaret Maron, and Dana Stabenow.
