I loved this book! I was hooked from the first electrifying sentence until the exciting conclusion, and all the surprises in between! The book was full of action and fast-paced. The author effectively created a scenario in which the characters, hence the reader, didn't know whom to trust, which heightened the suspense. The main characters were well-drawn, and the minor characters were believable. The worlds of banking, law enforcement, medicine, and science all came together to make this an interesting book. I also think that it is authentic that in this book the romance had to be suspended while Lexi and Drew dealt with staying alive and solving the mystery.

Men and women who enjoy suspense will certainly enjoy this book.

I received a copy of this book from the author, through Celebrate Lite, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

Murder for the Time Being was an interesting addition to the suspense genre. It had fewer heart pounding thrills than some other books I have read, but made up for it with its complex plot and mystery. I found myself surprised by some plot twists a few times. Nothing is as it seems in this book. Not the bad guy,s motives, not Lexi and her mysterious past, and certainly not Drew, the extremely handsome funeral director with a murky history. In this book you are given lots of different point of views to help you unravel this peculiar medical mystery.

The characters were believable, and likeable, especially Drew who was my favorite. The faith elements in this book were strong. All around the story was very interesting, and lovers of Christian suspense books will certainly enjoy this one.

I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to post a positive review and all opinions and views expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this book from the get-go. Joanie had me hooked in the Prologue. It took me a few chapters to really get a handle on the characters in the book, though. Who they were and how they related to each other. There was a pretty large mix of good-guys/ bad-guys.

Lexi's family has been in the Witness Protection for 18 years, when unexpectedly they end up in the middle of a bank robbery. Her mother foils the bank robbers plans, and pays dearly. This draws quite a bit of unwanted attention to the family, both positive and negative. Local police and U.S. Marshalls are not quite sure if the current situation is related to the past or not.

Local funeral home manager, Drew, also has a past he would like to keep under tabs. But, certain circumstances seem to prevent that from happening as time and time again, he is also in the spotlight. After a slight fender bender with Lexi in a drive-through, he continues to have run ins with her until he ends up involved knee deep in her dangerous situation.

And then there's Fizz. All he wants to do is get his brother Rob, the only family he has left, out of prison. Does it really have to be this complicated. Can he do it without getting caught? A notorious gang is going to kill Rob in two weeks if he doesn't do something fast. But things just aren't going as planned.

How does it all tie together? Well... you'll have to read the book to find out.

Once you get the feel of the characters, you'll likely enjoy this novel. There were some parts that seemed a tad far fetched, but hey, it's fiction for goodness sake, so personally, I appreciated the author's creativity in the story line. Though I do enjoy authenticity, it wasn't so off the wall, that it couldn't have happened. It was just more of a believe-it-or-not type story. I also enjoyed the suspense and the touch of romance, without it being overtly mushy ( which is not my style). And figuring out who-done-it and who could be trusted was not easy! She does a wonderful job weaving in faith based elements without being too pushy with it. This is the first book I have tried by this author. I think she has great potential and I would certainly read more of her books.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and Celebrate Lit to read. I was not required to review this book in a positive manner. All opinions are my own.

This mystery has an interesting concept, which I won't spoil by giving many details. The novel is filled with suspense and danger, and keeps the reader guessing about who is guilty and who can be trusted. Lexi's family thought they has fine new life away from the threats of the past. Now their world is overturned and the future uncertain. The characters seem very realistic and the plot is exciting and well executed. This author is good at intrigue and weaving together the lives of the people involved in the tale. It's easy to follow even with the layered stories. The characters must deal with serious issues in their struggle for survival. For those who like medical mysteries, that element is included, as is some romance. I received this copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
